Funeral Services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Tuesday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Paul Metcalfe Officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery.

Helen LaVerne (Brown) Peck was born to John Thomas “Pete” Brown and Artie Mae (Durbin) Brown on March 31, 1923 in Clyde, TX and departed this life in Duncan, OK on April 18, 2024 at the age of 101 years and 18 days.

A few years after her birth the family moved from Clyde to Cotton County, OK. The move was made by way of a cattle drive across the Red River, and with the smaller kids in a car. The family ran Brown Station, located about 5 and a half miles west of Walters on Hwy 5. Brown’s Station was a gas station and the area bus stop. It was very busy especially during the war years of WWII. The family sold the station and began farming full time.

Helen enjoyed looking after her grand and great grandchildren, cooking and sewing, and she was always saving coupons and collecting coins to give to her grandbabies. She always cared for others and was loved by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Robert Pruitt Peck Sr., whom she married on November 11, 1944 in DeQueen, AR; and 6 brothers and a sister, Lawrence Bernard Haley and wife Marguerite Flay, Jerome T. Brown and wife Wanda, Carl Robert Brown and wife Esther, Paul Brown and wife Vilma, Dorothy Brown Howeth and husband Eldon, Louie William Brown and wife Lorraine, and Clyde Brown and wife Linda.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Peck Jr., and Roger Peck and wife Angela; her grandsons, Matthew Peck and Mikayla, Andrew Peck and Laura, Levi Peck and Hunter; 5 great grandchildren, Stetson Peck, Liam Peck, Raelyn Peck, Carter Peck and Baker Peck; her special niece Carla Peck Rogers; numerous other beloved nieces and nephews.
