Dr. Russell Lewis recently accepted a position as resident surgeon at the Oklahoma charity hospital at Clinton. Dr. Lewis resigned as physician for a coal company at Westbourne, Tenn., to return to Oklahoma, after three years. Dr. Lewis is the son of Mrs. J. A. Wollam...Miss Anna Lee Hilbert, 16-year-old Hulen 4-H club girl, was awarded first place at the National 4-H Club Congress on her school dress entry to gain the distinction of being the third Cotton county club girl to make the highest placing in three consecutive years of competition at the national contest. In 1936 and 1937 Miss Lorene Powers, Ahpeatone, and Miss Clara Jo Christian, former Walters club girl, won the coveted placings. Miss Powers exhibited children’s garments and Miss Christian entered school dress in the competition. Miss Hilbert is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Hilbert...A girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Taylor December 5...Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Yeilding, of Temple, are parents of a boy, Robert Andrew, born Thanksgiving Day..A girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Mann, of Temple, on November 24... Toots Gilliam, former employee of Joe Wood, Walters jeweler, accepted a position as manager of a jewelry department in a Temple store this week...Gordon Morrow, who has been in the appliance business here for the past nine years, purchased the interest of Rev. J. T. Jones in the Jones-Morrow Electrolux company this week. The new firm will be known as the Morrow Appliance company.

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin E. Shelly, of Corpus Christi, Texas, have chosen the name Gloria Jean for their daughter born November 21. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Shelly, of Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Mortez, of Corpus Christi. Mr. Shelly is serving in the U. S. Navy...Ivan Eddie Phillips, 27, a native of Walters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Phillips, was killed Saturday morning in a collision of a station wagon he was driving and a football special train in Wichita Falls... Woodrow Vernon “Red” Wilson, 20, of Temple, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woody Wilson, was killed Thursday night of last week, and a companion, Robert Lee Williams, 19, also of Temple, when their speeding automobile went out of control on SH5, 4.6 miles south of Temple and crashed into a nearby field. Critically injured was a companion, Robert Lee Williams, 19, also of Temple, who was driving.

A son, Teddy Glen, was born to Stanley and LaDonna Good on November 14, at Duncan. Maternal grandparents are Charles and Loretta Walters, of Walters. Paternal grandparents are Glen Good, of Temple, and Berma and Don Thomas, of Wichita Falls...John and Helen Gower, of Ponca City, were attending the Temple Alumni Homecoming when they received word from Sicily that their son, Lt. Cmdr. Leon Gower, was missing and presumed dead after two U. S. Navy planes disappeared over the Mediterranean.
