Dr. H. V. W. Broadbent will open offices over the American National Bank building next Monday, it was announced today by his father, Charles Broadbent, of this city. Dr. and Mrs. Broadbent are moving here from Idabel...Mr. and Mrs. Alvis Vardell have a new son born Monday, November 25...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Courtwright on Tuesday, November 26...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Langford on Thursday, November 21...Announcement was made this week of the marriage of Miss Audrey Wiley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Wiley of Tipton, and Aubrey McAlister, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. McAlister of Walters, on July 15, at Brackettville, Texas...Miss Lorene Ross and Robert J. Freeman were married Friday evening, November 22, at Waurika. Miss Ross is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. French of Walters. Mr. Freeman is the son of Mrs. D. E. Scott of Lewisburg, Tenn., and the brother of Mrs. Mont Speir of Walters.

Mr. and Mrs. Athel Norman of Walters have chosen the name Richard Scott for their son born Monday, November 21, at the Walters hospital. Maternal grandmother is Mrs. Alma Carr, and paternal grandmother is Mrs. Virginia Norman...A long uphill battle by Downtown Kiwanis club of Lawton to organize a club in Walters will become a reality next Tuesday evening, when a full-dress organizational meeting will be held. Twenty-five names had been signed to the charter application Tuesday. Officers were elected Tuesday to serve the balance of this year and next year. Doyal Rusk was elected president, Ray McKinney first vice-president, Ted Southward second vice-president, and Lecil Hewett treasurer and secretary. Board of directors: two years, Charlie Moore, Charles Reed and Lloyd Wiley; one year, R. J. Kidd, Klever Dowlen and Kent Scherler... Fire of undetermined origin partially destroyed the nursery building of the First Baptist Church last week. Damage to the building will run approximately $3,000.00...Mr. and Mrs. Alva Parks, Walters, announce the marriage of their daughter, Sylvia Day, to Witcher Lee Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tate Wilson, Chattanooga. Wedding vows were exchanged in Wichita Falls November 19...H.L. (Lester) Lovelace, manager of the Farmer’s Co-Op Gin, Temple, lost his right index finger as a result of an accident Thursday night. He was attempting to remove some trash from a seed auger when his hand became entangled.

Mark and Susan Smith announce the birth of a baby boy born November 15, at Lawton, and named Brent Lawrence. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Cunningham. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Larry E. Smith, of Lawton...Now open for business - E & L Snack Shack and Game Room located at 110 W. Kansas...Al Agler, 21 year veteran of the Walters post office, has been transferred to the Lawton post office as a supervisor. Don Bressman, Walters postmaster, has spent the last year traveling the state getting things in shape for the new nine-digit zip code...Trina Kitchens and Chris Kelley were winners of the 4-H Dahms Hall of Fame award. Trina is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Kitchens, and Chris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Kelley, all of Walters.

Robbie Brockert, three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brockert, escaped his father’s watchful eye Sunday and his right foot came in contact the the blade of a running lawn mower. The blade entered horizontally, causing a severe wound that took 50 stitches to close up. Although no amputation will be necessary, it it feared he may lose the use of the little toe...Wedding vows for Miss Wanda Henderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Henderson, Temple, and Bobby Singleton, of Fort Worth, will be exchanged Friday, March 8, in the First Baptist church in Fort Worth.
