Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Daniels, residing on the Daniels Dairy one mile west of Walters, are rejoicing over the arrival of a fine daughter at their home born December 17... Appointment of Claud Herron, Walters man and County Cotton Weigher as Deputy Sheriff was announced this week by County Sheriff L. C. Henderson. Herron will take the place of Tracy Daugherty, Court Clerk-Elect. Bert McDonald as field deputy at Temple and Bill Adkins as Undersheriff, will be retained in those positions...The marriage of Miss Velma Box of Walters and Jesse J. Marley of San Angelo, Texas, was an event of Friday, December 21, at the Devol Methodist Church...The wedding of Miss Icy Lee Park and Dr. W. L. Mabry, both of Walters, was celebrated Saturday afternoon at the home of Rev. G. C. Hutto, pastor of the First Baptist Church. The bride has resided in Walters for a number of years and has worked in social services and as a general nurse. Dr. Mabry moved to Walters nearly two years ago.

In a simple afternoon ceremony on Sunday, December 20, wedding vows were exchanged between Mrs. Doris Bradfield and William W. Wilkins. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Armstrong, of Walters. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wilkins, of the Hulen Community...Mr. and Mrs. Sid Keeney, of Walters, will observe their golden wedding anniversary with an open house reception at their home Sunday, December 27. The Keeneys came to Oklahoma with their parents at the opening of the country, and were married in Lawton fifty years ago. They have lived in Walters ever since with the exception of one year during World War I...Separate bids for construction of the foundation and for erection of a new 150,000 gallon capacity water tower in the south part of Walters will be opened by the City Council Tuesday night. With the new tower, which tentatively will be located east of the Rock Island right-of-way on the south side of South Boundary,in operation and carrying a water load, it will be possible for the first time in many years to have an even pressure in the lines at all points in the city.

At 7:40 a.m. Monday A. W. Whitney, of Walters, drove to the Phillips 66 Station in Temple and discovered the body of his 34-year-old son, Arthur Gene Whitney, lifeless in the front seat of his car. Officers were notified, and Dr. Don Morgan was called in to establish the cause of his death. The car was not running when discovered, although the switch was on to indicate it had been running for an extended amount of time. Death was determined by Dr. Morgan to be accidental and attributed to carbon monoxide poisoning. Death had occurred several hours before discovery...The residence of Mrs. Betty Washburn on East Wyoming Street experienced a very destructive fire which destroyed the contents of her living room. The fire started reportedly when a candle fell from its proper setting onto cloth in the living room...The Walters Police Department Officer Lonnie Morgan to the department. Lonnie was with the Cache Police Department.

Miss Lois Evelyn Kiser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Kiser of Temple, and Lindel Lee Glasgow were married Saturday evening, March 22, at Wichita Falls. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross R. Glasgow of Temple Route 1...F. M. Duncan, Assistant Manager of the Sears store at Waco, Texas, assumed his duties as Manager of the Sears store here Monday...The latest remodeling project is the Trisler & Bizzell store, work having started this week on the construction of a brand new modern front. Across the street, Bill’s Radio and Record Shop, the Public Service Co.’s office and the Oil Field Tavern have recently been reconstructed and redecorated.
