OKLA. –The Better Business Bureau Serving Central Oklahoma opened an investigation in Jan. 2023 after a wave of consumer complaints against Smith Liquidation Services, previously known as True 2 You Estate Sales. The mounting concerns, which encompass issues of non-payment, communication breakdowns and alleged fraudulent activities, have prompted an investigation. Over the past two years, Smith Liquidation Services, under the leadership of owner Whitney Smith, has been the subject of 7 complaints from consumers. The grievances highlight a range of issues, including the issuance of bounced checks for services rendered, non-receipt of payments, lack of communication, and allegations of forged signatures on payment documents.

Of particular concern a consumer reported non-payment but also brought forward accusations of document forgery. The consumer subsequently pursued legal action and secured a judgment for fraud, indicating a potential pattern of unethical behavior on the part of Smith Liquidation Services.

Considering the consumer complaints and legal actions, the company underwent a name change from True 2 You Estate Sales to Smith Liquidation Services. The rebranding raised questions about transparency and accountability within the business.

BBB is working closely with affected consumers to gather evidence, validate claims, and seek resolution. As part of the ongoing investigation, the Attorney General's office has been informed and is investigating.

'Consumer protection is of high importance to BBB,' stated Kitt Letcher, President & CEO of BBB Serving Central Oklahoma. 'Our goal is to ensure fairness, ethical conduct, and accountability in the marketplace. We are actively investigating.'

BBB encourages consumers who have had dealings with Smith Liquidation Services to come forward with their experiences. This will help facilitate a thorough and accurate assessment of the situation and potentially prevent future instances of consumer harm.
