The 2A State Golf Tournament was held at Earlywine Golf Course in Oklahoma City on May 10th and 11th. Twelve teams and 15 individuals from across the state earned their way to the state golf tournament.

On May 10th the team played 36 holes and after the 1st round, Walters took a commanding lead of 21 strokes. After the 2nd round, they added to their lead by 3 more strokes for a total lead of 24 strokes. After a long rain delay on May 11th, the Walters Golf Team again played a great round and extended their lead by 13 shots, winning the state tournament by 37 total strokes.

The Walters High School team has been invited to the National High School Golf Tournament at Pinehurst, NC from June 27 – 30th. The team is raising money for the entry fee and trip. Below is a flyer for a golf scramble that will be held at the Walters Lakeside Golf Course on June 12th. I’m not sure if you can put this in the paper or take information from it for a small write up about the team, state championship, and now national tournament.
