The Varsity Choir received top honors at Little Dixie competition at ECU, Ada, OK, held earlier in the school year. A trophy recently received acknowledge theit achievement.

All five soloist received superior ratings: Grace Myers, Phelim Jiang, Josh Cannon, Glory Collins, and Robert Marlow.

Superior ensembles involved the majority of the choir group (eighth through twelfth grades). The judge commended all ensembles but was especially complimentary of the 8th and 9th grade singers because of their sensitivity to the text, engagement of all singers performing and even though young, showed performance maturity. She bragged on all groups and shared accolades to all groups but commented the young group was the best she’d encountered all day. (Walters was the last adjudicated groups so her comment was even more special.)

The Women’s Concert Choir received excellent ratings for their on stage performance. The Mixed Concert Chorus received a superior trophy for their competition performance.

Walters Varsity Choir and the Middle School Choir have shared their musical talents at various community functions: the annual Veterans Day Service, Community Thanksgiving Service spinsored by the Ministerial Alliance, Community Christmas program, Rotary Service Club and proudly singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at all home basketball games.. The group will always cherish their experience at Helena Munn’s citizenship ceremony where they sang the National Anthem for 98 new Americans in the OKC Federal Court Room.

The honors achieved by the choir are to be congratulated and commended for their dedication and hard work representing Walter Public Schools.
