Walters Chamber of Commerce Welcomes Newest Member Business

On Thursday, May 19th, the Walters Chamber of Commerce held a ribboncutting ceremony with Shannan and Bobby Avery, owners of the Cotton County Café.

A year ago, Shannan and Bobby Avery moved from Florida to Walters to be centrally located to their families. Bobby grew up in Covington, Oklahoma, north of Oklahoma City. Shannan Avery grew up in the Dallas area and her family currently resides in Lubbock, Texas. They chose Walters because it was about halfway between families and a good place for their son, Chase, to go to school. He is currently a junior at Walters High School and helps at the restaurant.

Bobby also operates Honeydo Handyman Services which provides residential repair and light construction services. The Avery’s have other businesses as well and has had a career in the luxury and service industry.

When asked why they were interested in starting a restaurant, Bobby said, “We had no idea we would be opening a restaurant. When we found out the previous restaurant (Peepaw’s) was closing, we did not want the community to miss out on having a restaurant in town.” Cotton County Café’s mission statement is: To provide a welcoming and exciting place for great food and community. Shannan and Bobby Avery are driven by “the desire to give the community something a little special of which they can be proud.”

When asked how the restaurant is faring, Shannan added, “Walters has been so welcoming to us, we wanted to give back, if possible.” Operating Cotton County Café is a way to accomplishing that goal.

Currently, Cotton County Café is offering Lunch options Monday through Thursday from 11 AM to 2 PM. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Friday and Saturday from 7 AM to 9 PM. They are also open on Sundays for breakfast and lunch from 9 AM to 3 PM.

They also accept to-go orders during operating hours by visiting https:// cotton-county-cafe.square.site or by calling 875-5123.

When asked if there was anything else they wanted the Walters Community to know about them, they said, “Just that we are glad to be here and we pray this restaurant will be a blessing to the community and that God will use it for His purposes.”
