What Makes Heaven Heavenly?

You will be you at your best forever, Even now you have good moments. Occasional glimpses of your heavenly self. When you forgive your boss’s temper, tolerate your spouse’s moodiness, and display traces of saintliness. It’s the other moments that sour life. The tongue, sharp as a razor, moods unpredictable as Mount Saint Helens. This is the part that worries you.

Just think what Satan has taken from you, even in the last few hours. You worried about a decision and envied someone’s success, dreaded a conversation and resented an interruption. He’s been prowling around you all day, pickpocketing peace, joy and honest love.

But his days are numbered. Unlike he did in the Garden of Eden, Satan will not lurk in heaven’s gardens. You will not stumble or be tempted and there will be no more curse. You will be you at your best forever.

Christ will have completed his redemptive work. All gossip excised and jealousy extracted. He will suction the last drop orneriness from the most remote corners of our souls. You’ll love the results. No one will doubt your word, question your motives, or speak evil behind your back. God’s sin purging discontinues all strife.

No sin means no thieves, divorce, heartbreak, or boredom. You won’t be bored in heaven, because you won’t be the same you in heaven. But Satan will take his weedy soils to hell with him, leaving you with a keen mind, endless focus, and God – honoring assignment.

We might serve in the same capacity we serve now. Couldn’t earthly assignments hint at heavenly ones? One thing for sure: your going to love it. Never weary, selfish, or defeated. Clear mind, tireless muscles, unhindered joy. Heaven is a perfect place or perfected people with our perfect Lord.

Matthew 5: 12 says; “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The Master Builder will pull out the original plan and restore the vigor, the energy, the hope, and the soul. Each step you take brings you closer to home. Before you know it, you’ll enter the City.

You’ll hear your name spoken by those who love you. It’s amazing but true that God’s grand plan for your life is far greater than you can imagine. In fact, this earth – bound existence has us so preoccupied with the demands of life that most of us give little though to what it will mean to be completely sanctified.

One day we’ll see our Savior face to face and experience unimaginable joy. That’s what makes Heaven Heavenly.
