What Am I to Do?

Have you ever wondered if you were doing what Jesus called you to do?

Jesus provides help in these words of His.

Matthew 25:35-36, 40, ‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’

…”The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ (nasb)

What are you doing? Are you doing the work He has called you to do? Do you ever hear something like, “Get up off your backside and get busy!” Well, I’ve heard a few preachers say get up off of your “blessed assurance” and...! Why do so many wait on so few to get a church going and growing? Why do so many wait on so few to share the gospel of Jesus Christ? Why do only five percent do everything? Yep, being a Christian requires us to get up off our backside and do somethin’. And that somethin’ would be whatever God’s will for your life is at a certain place and time. And that would be like right now.

If you’re part of a trail drive and you don’t ever roll out of your bed roll of a morning, how long are you going to last on that drive? The trail boss is going to give you a swift kick in the backside once or twice, but somewhere along the trail he’s gonna send you packing. And he’ll say something like, you are of no use to us. You don’t even get why you are supposed to be doing what you are not even doing.

I think that is the point Jesus is trying to get across. If we know Him, we will strive to please Him. And if we want to strive to please God, then we must follow His plan for our lives. We have to get it through that thick noggin that He enclosed our thinkin’ unit (brain) in that we are just plum useless without Him. But yet, we’d rather get all concerned about things that don’t matter. We see here in His word where Jesus teaches us that helping other matters! It matters so much that it’s the same thing as helping Him! As His Church, we must cultivate that desire to help others and in doing so we help our Lord and Savior!

But first, we must know Him. We must have a relationship with the Son! Some of us are wandering around, goin’ to church, but we don’t get it. Do you know Jesus? Does He reside in your heart? Does the Holy Spirit guide your life?

Some folks are convinced that money is the answer. I don’t have time, so I’ll send money. Well, money can help towards ministry, but when it comes right down to it, the Holy Spirit doesn’t usually work and speak through money. He speaks and works right here through you and me. And while we’re on the subject of the Holy Spirit and money, I’ll tell you this: money can’t buy your salvation. And it can’t buy your friends’ salvation, either. As believers, if we aren’t serving our fellow man with a sincere heart, then we just aren’t serving God.

The fields are about “done.” And if we can find the harvesters to do it, the crop will soon be harvested. There’s a field plum full of lost souls out there that are seeking to be a part of the harvest because they’re ‘bout done in. Are we willing to do the work? There’s more to being a Christian than just goin’ off to church. And if your mission is not to help others, you have a misguided “me” ministry. It’s time to tighten up that cinch and go get ‘er done.

Let’s do it!

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! Pray for the rain! Amen!
