Rain and Son Shine!

As I finish this on Monday morning the beginning of spring, rain is falling, and more rain is in the forecast today. Lightning and thunder are welcome on this place. I always encourage y’all to pray for rain.

Well, I’ve heard it before and it’s true, “Timing has a whole lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.” A pastor friend who is also Native American, once posted, “Note to self: No more rain dances while eating a popsicle. Sorry.” At the time, we had been near 90 days without some kind of usable rainfall, and I believe that we had an ice storm that night with a big snow right behind it. Popsicles…who would’ve thunk it?

Many of us haven’t received any decent rainfall since November. It’s hard to believe that we actually had a fairly wet fall. I had seed in the ground that sprouted and died. The overflowed ponds and creeks are drying out in a hurry. Cows are getting stuck in the mud. Keep praying! It’s what Jesus said to John when he was on that island at Patmos concerning the church in Laodicea: “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.” (nasb Rev 3:15-16) Wow! Be on fire. Pray and He will hear. And it will rain.

Folks, it don’t make much difference whether you are a cowboy, a lawyer. or a salesclerk. If you are a born-again believing, follower of Christ. If you are a Christian, Jesus wants you to keep stoking the fire so as to keep shining His light! And only having a spark and a flicker isn’t good enough!

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matt 5:16)

And let us be an encouragement to others so they will let their light shine as well! It’s a sad deal but the light is but barely a flicker in many--areas of this country we call the United States. It’s bad enough here in what we used to call the Bible belt, but you go to some other areas in this country and they’ll literally tell you they don’t want to hear the name of Jesus. They tell us to keep our outdated religion. They don’t want to hear about the words found in the Red Letters or any other part of the Bible. They don’t want to hear about what God has done in our lives. They don’t want to hear about how awesome God is!

So, folks, we have a job to do! There is a lost world out there who needs Jesus, and yet so many are runnin’ the other way. It’s time to live our lives for Christ and show others we encounter they can and must do the same.

Disclaimer – I feel that I must send out apologies to English teachers, especially the one’s who taught me! I hope y’all know the way I write these articles is to be no reflection on any of you. Just sayin’! and yes, I have spell check and there is a whole lot of red and blue and green squiggly lines when I type. I just ignore them (lol) They don’t show up in the newspaper anyway.

Well, it’s Monday morning here. Received a nice shower so far, and the weatherman says maybe more rain later. I must go get ready. How about you? Are you ready? It’s time we tell others about our faith in Christ! Choose Jesus and let the Son shine!

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! And hey, y’all let us all be of one accord and pray for some rain on this parched land! Amen!
