R. D. Wright was thrown from his horse in East Cache creek today and nearly drowned before he was able to swim ashore. He suffered painful bruises and lacerations...Paul Martin, 14-year-old son of Wes Martin, west of Walters, suffered a broken leg Saturday when his team ran away with him, threw him off and under his harrow and dragged him about 200 yards. In addition to the broken leg, he was bruised and cut badly...Ray Fletcher, band director of the Walters high school, announced the receipt of 35 band uniforms here this week. The suits are navy blue with white trimmings, the colors of the school. They replace the blue caps and white trousers formerly used as a uniform...A son was born Monday, June 7, to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Baber, of Randlett...Mr. and Mrs. Earl Spannagel, of Randlett, are the parents of a daughter born Saturday, June 12... Miss Bessis Holland, of Randlett, was married this week in Randlett to Lynn Murphy, of Wichita Falls... Miss Theodora Ketels and Clifford Schneeberger were married Tuesday evening, June 15, in the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Ketels, of Hulen. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Schneeberger, also of Hulen...Miss Delilah Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Thompson, Jr., was married Monday evening at the First Christian church, to Eugene (Jack) Kennedy, of Shawnee. Mr. Kennedy is a son of the late Mrs. Mary E. Kennedy, of Temple, and a brother of Mrs. Walt Hubbell.

Bobby Preston, a 15-year-old Walters boy, shattered the state AAU Junior Olympics high jump record for intermediate age group in competition Saturday at Lawton. Bobby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Preston, cleared the bar at six feet, one and one-quarter inches, which is one-half inch below the national record...A marriage license was issued to Daniel Lee Johnson, 22, Sheppard AFB, and Anna Sherlene Veach, 21, Walters... Miss Kathleen Jewell Henley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Henley, Walters, became the bride of Gary Gene Carlile, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan E. Perry, of Route 1, Duncan, Sunday, June 10, in the Walters Church of Christ...Mr. and Mrs. Tony Pulis, of Hutchinson, Kans., announce the birth of a daughter, Juli Michelle, born Monday, June 6. Mrs. Pulis is the former Miss Maxine Petty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Petty, of Walters. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Pulis, of Durant, former Walters residents.
