Miss Mary Bishop, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Stevens, of Devol, became the bride of John Walter Burford, of Lindsay, in the First Baptist church of Devol, last Friday evening...Miss Katie Carlton and McRae Park were married at Sulphur Thursday, May 27. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Asa Carlton, of Walters. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Park, of north of Walters...Jay Smith, superintendent of the Walters schools, left Tuesday morning for Oklahoma City to see about purchasing two transformers for the local ball park to be used in lighting the field for night activities...L. J. Hunt, Jr., former Walters high school graduate, now a student in the naval academy at Annapolis, Md., left June 4 for a world cruise on the U. S. S. Arkansas.

James Lee Smith, of Choctaw, has been employed by the Walters board of education to fill the position of shop teacher and assistant high school coach...Rev. Guy Millard, 59, pastor of the First Methodist church of Stigler for the last four years, is expected to arrive in Walters Thursday to begin his duties as pastor of the First Methodist church. He succeeds Rev. Anthony Webster, who was assigned to the Texhoma church... Mr. and Mrs. Tommy McEuen, Walters, are the parents of a daughter, Rebecca June, born Saturday, May 26. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Young, Walters, and the maternal grandmother is Mrs. Ila Wilson, of Duncan...Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Mason, Clovis, N. Mex., announce the birthh of a son, John Mark, on May 29. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Mason and Mrs. Earl Spannagel, all of Walters.

A marriage license was issued to Richard Allen Coles, 23, of Temple, and Vickie Sue Goff, 19, of Hastings... Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Priddy were honored at a surprise celebration of their Golden Wedding anniversary on May 6. Everette Priddy and Sophia June Dunlap were married May 6, 1932, at Norman, Okla. They moved to Cotton county in 1934, and settled on a farm northeast of Walters...The First Baptist church in Temple was the setting for the wedding of Rhonda Kay Stringer and Terry Wayne Morris on Saturday, April 24. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Royce Stringer, of Temple. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Morris, of Ardmore, formerly of Temple.

Albert Anderson, Temple FFA, was declared winner in the first tractor rodeo Thursday of last week at the conclusion of the Cotton county free fair...Lt. Harold W. Powell was promoted to first lieutenant September 3 in ceremonies held at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio...Mrs. H. E. Irey will be installed tonight as president of the American Legion auxillary. Other officers to be installed are: Mrs. Robert Powell, Mrs. Roy Wampler, Mrs. Reuben Bowers, Mrs. A. P. Freeman, Mrs. Clyde McClenny and Mrs. E. O. Wampler.
