He has been graduated from a Tyler, Tex., radio and commercial college...An improved road from the cemetery corner north to the site of Boyer lake will be made soon by the WPA. The road will receive grade and drainage improvement, new and wider culverts, and gravel surface added.

Shirley Champion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Champion, of Devol, has been named the valedictorian of the Big Pasture senior class. Janie Eschler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Escher, of Cookietown, has been names salutatorian of the class...Ernest W. Smith, city council member for 12 years, closed out his fourth term of office Tuesday night and retires from active city officialdom. He is succeeded on the city council by Worth Grigsby...Clyde Rodolph, Jr., has been named manager of the Oklahoma Electric Cooperative at Norman. Rodolph has been with the coop for over two years as head of the power use and public relations department. He was born at Temple in 1926, and graduated from Walters high school. He married Dolores Robbins, of Walters, in 1947.

Charles Woosley has been chosen as valedictorian of the senior class at Big Pasture High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Woosley, of Randlett. He has a 3.97 grade average. Pam Bush, with a 3.65 grade average and Elaine Teague, also with a 3.65 grade average, were named co-salutatorians. Miss Bush is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bush. Miss Teague is the daughter of Barbara Teague and Douglas Teague...Calvary Baptist church in Lawton was the scene for the marriage vows exchanged by Lori Ann Wright and Edward R. Hewett on Saturday, May 1. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Wright, of Lawton. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard G. Hewett, of Walters...Marriage licenses were issued to: Jerry Leon Davis, 20, and Marcia Lynn Paul, 24, both of Walters; and Billy Jim Davis, 22, of Walters, and Kelly Miechell Jeffrey, 19, of Temple.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ruley, Sunday, August 10, at the Walters hospital. He has been named Jimmy Lee. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Collier, Temple...Ronnie Coulston, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Sleepy Coulston, won first place with certified Triumph wheat in the recently completed Temple FFA wheat production contest. Karl Sorge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Sorge, won second and Ken Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Jones, won third.
