Walter Hubbell was named as new Walters city attorney Tuesday night. Hubbell succeeds Toby Morris, who resigned when he moved to Lawton...Tom Jones, of near Cookietown, received a broken leg when he was struck by an automobile driven by Woodrow Kerr, Saturday night. Jones was walking along the road onehalf mile west of Cookietown when hit by the car. Kerr brought Jones to the Walters hospital...Carl Cates is now in charge of the McKnight Service Station in Devol. Mr. and Mrs. McKnight are moving to their farm north of town...A daughter, Shirley Ann, was born Thursday, Feb. 18, to Mr. and Mrs. E. Edgemon...Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Youree are the parents of a son, Cleo DeRoy, born Monday, Feb. 22.

Walters high school one-act play, “Still Stands the House,” received a superior rating at Southwestern district speech contest last Friday at Weatherford. Jane Todd, who portrayed “Hester” in the play, was named best actress in the contest.
