Wrecking yard of E. S. Bellew, on highway 70 North, was moved one block east of the former location at the intersection of Broadway and Missouri streets. The yard is on the location formerly occupied by the O. K. Welding shop...J. S. Morrison, formerly of Lawton, has been chosen by the directors of the Farmers Union Cooperative elevator to be the new manager... Miss Mary Willard Rice and Dwight Alverson were married in Oklahoma City Nov. 30, at the manse of the Maywood Presbyterian church. The bride is the daughter Mrs. Dora Rice, teacher in the Walters school. The groom is the son of Rev. and Mrs. W. W. Alverson, of Seymour, Texas, formerly pastor of the First Presbyterian church in Walters...The state fish and game department brought in 25,000 crappie from a hatchery near Lawton and placed in the new Walters lake. The fish were obtained after solicitation was made among businessmen of Walters to purchase them.

Mrs. Edna Alexander, of Union Valley community, and Mr. J. T. Martin, of Grandfield, were united in marriage, January 17, at Lawton, and are residing at her home near Union Valley...Mrs. Margie Dulworth, Burkburnett, and J. M. Butler, Randlett, were united in marriage Friday evening in the home of the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Butler...Mr. and Mrs. Ronald J. Owens, Fort Ord, Calif., announce the birth of a son, David Allen, on January 14. Mrs. Owens is the former Dorothy Ann Berry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Berry...S & P Ford Sales, 200 S. Broadway, held their grand opening February 1-3. Louis Pickens is manager, Faye Hillis, salesman, Gus Wrape and Louis Barnes in the service dept...Tom Welch will open Tom’s Apco Station at the corner of Broadway and Missouri on February 8.

The Walters Board of Education met Monday night, February 1, and the oath of office and loyalty oath were signed by newly elected board member, Harry Carroll. Kathleen Flanagan was welcomed as new board attorney...Cheryl Cooper and Bucky Calfy were voted “Most Athletic” at Walters High School...Marriage licenses were issued to James B. Ingrum, 18, and De Ann Bearid, 20, both of Temple; and Gerald R. Suson, 33, and Shirley M. Steele, 38, both of Walters.

E. O. Worsham and C. S. Worsham have purchased Frederick Grain and Seed Co. in Frederick, and C. S. Worsham has assumed management of the firm...Mrs. Charlie (Hoot) Gibson and two children left last week for San Diego where they are awaiting transportation to the Philippines. Gibson, a construction driver second class, is stationed at Subic Bay on the west coast of Luzon island. He is the ward of Mr. and Mrs. Tab Dowlen, while Mrs. Gibson is the daughter of Mrs. Stella McClung...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Carthol Stepp, Comanche, on Saturday, May 10. He has been named Lee Wayne. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Mann, Sr. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Stepp... Mr. and Mrs. Archie Milburn are parents of a daughter, Terri Jean, born Monday May 5.
