A new building at Plainview was approved Saturday by the WPA. Work was started Wednesday on the new structure, which is to cost approximately $5,600. Repair work was started Wednesday on Essaquanahdale and Taylor schools. A pond has been built, of approximately five acres, on the Andrew Chambers farm four miles north and one-half east of Walters...A marriage license was issued to James Sipes, 21, and Sadie Swinford, 23, both of Temple...Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Mincey, of the Roosevelt community, are the parents of a baby girl, Patsy Ann, born Sunday night...Nick Price has moved his barber shop from his old location on West Colorado to the Wiley building on East Colorado.

Miss Peggy Zachary and Robert Lovenguth exchanged wedding vows Thursday, November 2, in the Walters First Baptist church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Zachary, of Walters. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Helen Lovenguth, of Orange, N. J. They will reside in Wichita Falls...Miss Janell Baber, senior at Big Pasture school was crowned football queen. Her attendants were Miss Patti Nichols and Miss Sandra Kemp. They were escorted by tri-captains Hugh McCullough, Howard Baggs and Terry Morrow...Cub Scout pushmobile race, a regular feature of the Veterans Day observance, resulted in the following. In the eight-year-old group the team of Jerry Avery and Mike Sims was awarded first place. In the nine-year-old group Jim Taylor and Randy Hughes had the first place team. The 10-year-old group saw Paul Milwood and Steve Fletcher take first place. In the runoff race for grand champion honors, Jim Taylor and Randy Hughes took first place.

John H. Scaggs, Walters attorney, and former legal advisor to the school board, won the special school board election to replace Andy Flanagan, who resigned....Reuben and Ledie Barnett will be honored with a reception Sunday, November 29 for their Golden Wedding anniversary. Ruben and Ledie were married December 3, 1931, in Lawton. They have lived in Temple since 1970... Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Whitehead, of Temple, will celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary with a reception, Sunday, November 29, at the Lions Den inTemple. The former Mabel Alice Stockstill was married to Arnold Whitehead, November 14, 1931, at the First Baptist church in Duncan.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. W. F. (Bill) Bentley, on Thursday, February 20, at a Wichita Falls hospital. She has been named Rebecca Sue...C. S. Worsham announced Wednesday that he has tendered his resignation as manager of the Farmers Union Coop Gin effeective March 31... Five Tigers--two boys and three girls--were named to the Southern Five all-conference basketball team, Coach L. T. Canary, announced this week. Alvin Thurman and Lynn Tucker were named in the Southern Five boys team while Sylvia Collins, Ann Dilks and Karen Langford were named to the all-conference girls team. This is Collins second trip to the all-conference honor. She was named all-conference last year and also received all-area honors.
