E. A. Williford, recently of Madera, Calif., began his duties as minister of the Walters Church of Christ last Sunday. Williford succeeds Edwin A. Amyx, who left about two months ago to preach in south Texas...A daughter, Carol Ann, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Coy Thomas on November 6...Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Wilson are parents of a daughter born November 7...The lobby and halls of the Lines hotel were being completely re-painted and re-decorated this week. The upper hall has been remodeled and includes a mezzanine. New furniture and floor mats are being installed... Mrs. Anna Coker, Duncan, arrived here last week to assume management of the Ellen Grimes Cleaning shop. Mrs. Coker lived in Walters for more than 20 years before moving to Duncan two and a half years ago...James W. Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Taylor, has been made associate general secretary at Oklahoma A. & M. He will direct activities in the freshman YMCA program.

Mr. and Mrs. Travis Kinder, Lawton, have chosen the name Russell Max for their son born Saturday, October 29. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Max Bessemer, of Ahpeatone community, and Mr. and Mrs. James W. Kinder, of Randlett... Joy Whitehead was selected Wednesday afternoon by the student body of Walters high school to reign as Veterans Day queen on November 11...The Walters Volunteer Fire Department was completely reorganized at its regular meeting Tuesday. Alfred Agler was appointed Volunteer Chief to take charge until the fire chief arrives at the scene of the fire. He will also coordinate the volunteer firemen at fires. Ralph Snyder was appointed Captain of the discharge crew, which will have two hose sections, crew chief and assistant chief, and three nozzlemen. Jimmy Cain was appointed Captain of the suction crew, which will have two truck units, two drivers and four laddermen.

The Checotah Church of Christ was the scene when Miss Karen Dowdy and Andy Lee Blizzard exchanged wedding promises Friday, October 16. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dowdy and Mr. and Mrs. Don Blizzard, all of Checotah...The home of J. B. Henderson literally fell into a hole last week when flood waters from Cache creek pushed it over the bank. Flood waters took an extensive toll on crops, livestock, farm equipment and buildings.

Pauline’s a woman’s sportswear shop in Temple, closed Saturday, according to the owner Pauline Dowlen Duncan... Army Pvt. Curtis G. Kittrell, 20, son of Mrs. Daisy Mae Kittrell, Temple, participated with other personnel from the 42nd Artillery in the first tactical troop firing of the Lacrosse missile at the McGregor range, Fort Bliss, Texas, Jan. 25-Feb. 2
