Formal opening of the Elkouri Department Store, located in the Doran building on North Broadway has been set for Saturday, Joe Elkouri, manager, announced this week. He moved his stock from Mountain View, where he was in the dry goods business for 15 years. Accompanying Elkouri here were his wife, a daughter, Faye, and a son, Gus...Three teams in the newly formed Big Pasture football conference will play their first games of the season using six-man teams, when Randlett meets Faxon Friday at Burkburnett and Indiahoma meets Weaver. The other teams in the conference are Devol and Chattanooga...Mr. and Mrs. Henry Poemoceah, who reside on Walters route 1, are parents of a son born Monday, September 5...A son was born Friday, Sepember 2, to Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Harper on Temple route 1...Dedication of the new $35,000 Temple school stadium is scheduled for Monday night. Bands have been invited from 35 towns to attend and compete in the afternoon band contest. For the first time since football became a competitive sport on Temple’s schedule back in 1920, local fans and boosters will have something in the way of a stadium that has all the latest wrinkles. The new stadium, constructed by the WPA, seats 3,000 fans comfortable, and will seat 4,000 with a little trouble. Miss Dorothy Stogner is the Dedication Queen...Mr. and Mrs. Houghton, of Essaquanahdale, surprised their friends with the announcement of the marriage of their daughter, Miss Frances Jean, to Garley Doty, of Ahpeatone, on September 4.

Mrs. Schafer is the former Judith Ford, daughter of James Ford, of Walters...Mr. and Mrs. Dale W. Spencer, Oklahoma City, announce the arrival of their daughter, Diane Lesli, born August 25. Mrs. Spencer is the former Miss Dixie Speir, graddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Speir, of Walters.
