Marriage licenses were issued to: Glenn Kemp, 23, and Gladys Florene Branson, 18, both of Randlett; and James William Fonville, 19, Randlett, and Viola Solenburg, 18, Walters...The 36th annual anniversary celebration of Temple has been announced for next Wednesday and Thursday, August 10 and 11, Dave Richardson, secretary of the Temple chamber of commerce, said Wednesday. There will be an old fiddlers’ contest, guineas will be turned loose atop one of the buildings with cash money attacked to the leg of each bird, a big parade in the afternoon, led by the Granite Reformatory band, prizes for best dressed cowboy and cowgirl, the same applying to Indian men and women, and a prize for best float. At 3:30 a water polo game will start. Wednesday night a big rodeo attaction has been engaged...Two carloads of bridge supplies were being unloaded here this week preparatory to the starting of road construction beginning eight miles south of Walters and running three miles west, one mile north, and then three miles back east. S. A. Cook, Indian agent, said that an additional car of supplies was expected soon.

Marion Musgrove, who has operated the Musgrove Apco Service at Broadway and Missouri streets, has sold his operation to Truman Smith, Jr. and his brother-in-law, Tommy Poole...Lt. and Mrs. Richard Smith, San Bernardino, Calif., announce the birth of a daughter, Kaleen Joy, born July 24. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jay F. Smith, Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Trainer, Fort Worth... Walters Jaycees have built their second picnic table to be installed at Youth Park on the east side of the city. The tables are built of metal and wood, and designed to take most any type of hard wear.

David Gammill, Rt. 2, Chattanooga, was elected to the Board of Trustees of Cotton Electric Cooperative at a meeting Monday night...New Salem Baptist church, located northwest of Walters, is celebrating their 75th anniversary... Marriage licenses were issued to: David R. Tarver, 20, Ada, and Anita Rae Tindol, 17, Walters; Leonard Neal Manley, 46, and Hazel Kathleen Buckaloo, 46, both of Randlett; and Charles J. Walters, 20, and Margaret Ann Billen, 22, both of Walters.

Staff Sergeant Gerald R. Bowles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Bowles of Temple, was recently assigned to the Montgomery Air Defense Sector, and assumed the duties of radar operator. Bowles is in his sixth years with the air force, and is married to the former LaVera Myers, also of Temple... Dr. Wade Parkey, vice president and research director for the Caltana Safflower Products Co., spent the week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Parkey.
