Open house for the ten new apartments atop the post office building has been announced for Friday by the owner, Rev. J. T. Jones. Two additional apartments are midway in the stages of construction in the space downstairs just north of the section occupied by the post office. Pat Jones, Walters druggist, and son of the owner, will occupy one of the downstairs apartments, and he will be in charge of the general management of the building...The wedding of Miss Alice Powell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Powell, and Spencer Hough, was celebrated Sunday morning at the home of the bride’s parents, west of town. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Hough, of near Walters...Demont Wilson, the nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Wilson, was removed to a hospital in Lawton Sunday of this week suffering from infection which has proven an aftermath of a serious attack of pneumonia from which young Wilson survived a few weeks ago. It was necessary for the physician to remove a portion of the boy’s rib, also brought about by the extended illness.

Miss Linda Kerr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Kerr, Walters, became the bride of Larry Paul McClendon, son of Mrs. Susie Hicks, Duncan, in a ceremony read Saturday, July 13 in a Wichita Falls Baptist church...Miss Phyllis Kay Singleton and Johnny Lee Banks exchanged wedding vows Saturday, July 13, in the First Baptist church in Walters. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. A. J. Singleton, Walters, and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Leroy Richardson, Lawton...Miss Janice Landers, of Wichita Falls, and Brian Hooper, of Randlett, were married Friday night, July 12, in the Southside Baptist church in Wichita Falls. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Landers, of Wichita Falls, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Hooper, of Randlett.

Coker Implement, which has been in business here since April, 1939, will close its door the first of August. It has always been a John Deere dealership. Gordon Coker opened the business in 1939, selling an interest to his brother, Earl, in 1946. Earl bought Gordon’s interest in 1951, and then in 1955, Earl’s son, Darrell, bought an interest, and then Darrell bought Earl’s interest in 1963...Mr. and Mrs. Harmon “Blackie” Cox, of Temple, will be honored Sunday, July 17, with a reception in honor of their 62nd wedding anniversary. Harmon Cox and Ruth Mae Woods were married July 17, 1921, in Temple...Martin’s Furniture & Appliance has moved to 123 N. Broadway.

A son, Eddie Lynn, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Sanders Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Walters hospital. Maternal grandmother is Mrs. Lois Sparks. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Sanders...50-years pins will be presented to two members of Temple Lodge 210 Tuesday, November 12. D. D. Graham has completed 50 years membership and P. H. Page has been a Mason for 53 years.
