Lewis, of Temple are parents of a daughter, born July 4...Bob Lines, Walters City Manager, announced the placement of J. E. Loy as night fireman. James Ballard, present fire chief, will continue as day fireman. Henry Jones will move from city day policeman to night policeman. D. W. Wade, former night policeman, has been placed on day duty...C. C. Campbell was elected county attorney and Clarence Jackson was elected court clerk in the primary election held Tuesday. Charles M. Henderson, county clerk, and J. D. Ewing, county assessor were retained by the voters...The Walters Herald held an Election Party Tuesday evening in front of the Herald office for some 2,000 guests. A tally board was elevated in front of the guests and markings of interest were added periodically which brought diverse remarks from those in attendance to add merriment to the occasion.

Miss Amanda Joyce Country became the bride of Hammond H. Motah in an exchange of vows Sunday, July 7, in the Emerson Indian Methodist church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Country, of South Dakota, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Rhoda Motah, Walters. They will resume their studies this fall at Cook’s Christian Training school at Phoenix, Ariz., where Mr. Motah is studying to be a preacher... Jerry Gilliam, who lives northeast of Walters, was fishing Wednesday afternoon of last week on East Cache creek, east of Walters, around 5:30 o’clock. He was carrying a .22 caliber pistol in a holster. He saw a snake in the water nearby, and reached for the pistol. The trigger was faster than his draw, and the gun was discharged. The bullet entered his leg and lodged back of the knee. He was taken to a Duncan hospital, where the injury was treated.
