Remember These Things!

Monday was Memorial Day. It is set aside each year on the last Monday in May to remember those who have given their lives so we can have the freedoms that make this country so great. It is important that we remember and honor those who gave their all!

In God’s word, we also see how the Israelites were instructed to remember things by setting aside and observing certain days and events concerning their relationship as God’s chosen people.

Moses told the people in Exodus 13:3, “Remember this day in which you went out from Egypt, from the house of slavery; for by a powerful hand the LORD brought you out from this place. And nothing leavened shall be eaten. (nasb) Here are just a few other items that we should remember.

1. It is important to know and remember when you gave your life to Christ. Do you remember?

The exact date isn’t so important, but you had to be there. I knelt down beside my bed one night during the first week of November 1970. I was 9 years old. I was baptized on 11/15/1970. I remember getting out of bed and kneeling beside it and praying to invite Jesus to be Lord of my life. I remember because I was there. Someday, my earthly body may forget, and thank God my salvation is not dependent upon my recall memory, but Jesus knows! He’ll say something like, Father, this one is with me. He’s one of the reasons I died at Calvary.

2. Don’t dwell on it, but we should remember the pit we were in before we were saved. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. (Psalms 40:2 nasb)

3. Remember where you went after salvation. Ask the question, “Did I keep riding for Him?” ‘But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore, remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place — unless you repent.’ (Revelation 2:4-5 nasb) Repent and He will lift you up!

4. Remember to keep the vows you have promised Him! Do you ride your own trail and call it ridin’ for Him? Ride for Christ, ride His trail. What about your spouse. You promised, before God, to love, honor, and cherish. You promised to put her ahead of yourself. And others… we must pray for and go help others in need.

“…as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way.” (1 Samuel 12:23 nasb)

5. Remember God’s truths! God sent His Son. Jesus died on a cross for our sins, He went to the grave and defeated death. ‘So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. Revelation 3:3 (nasb)

6. Remember His Call: Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 nasb)

7. Remember His Charge. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matt 28:19 nasb)

8. Remember His Commandments: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, ‘you shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Mark 12:30-31 nasb) Remember! Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! And hey, y’all let us all be of one accord and pray for some RAIN on this parched land! Amen
