Pastor Wes Kinder Tell Others!

Y’all hear that timid knock at the door? It sounds like maybe the neighbor’s puppy is knocking with his tail. Well, you finally get up to open it and there is a stranger there who is shifting his feet and waving his hand very nervous and unsure.

“Yes sir, can I help you?” you ask. He finally gets it out, “You wouldn’t want to buy a vacuum cleaner…would you?”

You’re thinking, “Well, at least he gives me every opportunity to refuse!” lol You don’t know whether to send him away or maybe be an encouragement by letting him show you how his vacuum cleaner is something you just can’t live without.

Now, I wouldn’t want to try to tell you that salesmanship and evangelism should be treated the same, but there are some similarities.

If you want to communicate effectively, you must believe in what you are representing. It makes you wonder how certain used car salesmen and horse traders live with themselves, don’t it? But seriously, can you imagine being a salesperson who has to sell something you don’t care for or believe in.

Sometimes, I think that is how we as Christians must come across. We hesitate in even talking about the One we know is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. If we allow the Holy Spirit to be at work in us, then there is nothing to be afraid of. And besides, we have some awesome news to tell! Jesus came to save all of us because we are all perishing. Why would anyone want to keep such information to themselves?

Well, I might be turned away… or someone might laugh at me and tell me my Jesus isn’t real.

Over in Acts ch. 3, we find that Peter and John, through the Power of Jesus name, healed someone who had never walked since birth. He was over forty years old and spent his life begging to survive. Well, this man was healed, and he began to walk, leap and praise God. He was drawing a crowd. “Hey, isn’t that the lame beggar? How is he walking and jumping and leaping?”
