Cameron University’s Department of Art, Music, and Theatre Arts will continue its 2020-21 theatre season, celebrating “Festival XI: Connections: Information Transfer Between People,” with Jeff Goode’s “The Eight: The Reindeer Monologues.” This dark comedy will be presented in the University Theatre from November 19 to 22 The curtain goes up on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for senior citizens, military, Cameron faculty and staff, and non-Cameron students. CU students receive Free admission with their CU I.D. Due to COVID-19 protocols, seating is limited and tickets must be reserved in advance. Scandal erupts at the North Pole when one of Santa's eight tiny reindeer accuses him of sexual harassment. As mass media descends upon the event, the other members of the sleigh team demand to share their perspectives. A horrific tale of corruption and perversion emerges, which seems to implicate everyone from the littlest elf to the tainted Saint himself. With each deer's confession, the truth behind the shocking allegations becomes clearer and clearer…and murkier and murkier.
Lawtonians Curtis Myers and Ciara Renée play the roles of Dasher and Vixen, respectively. They are joined by Cole Nowlin, Anadarko, as Comet; Aubrey Waxler, Del City, as Blitzen; Connor Reid, Snyder, as Cupid; Mark Branson, Fletcher, as Hollywood; Shalyn Bowles, Geronimo, as Dancer; and Dakota Barbee, Walters, as Donner. The design team is made up of Cameron University students. Stephanie Sabol, Lawton, is the stage manager. Sidni Blalock, Duncan, is the make-up designer and sound board operator; Maliah Davis, Lawton, is the lighting board operator; Emily Whatley, Duke, is the scenic charge artist; and Carmen Head, Alvarado, Texas, is the house manager.
Faculty working on the show include Associate Professor Eric Abbott, costume designer; and Assistant Professor Ben Williams, lighting and scenic designer. Professor Scott Richard Klein serves as the director of the production.
