The Prince of Peace

Relax folks. This coming Saturday is not about you, the food, gifts, or even your family – important as they are. It’s about the Prince of Peace. A day we recall and show respect to an event that changed the history of the world, and provided salvation for us and peace to our hearts.

John 14: 27 says this; “Peace I leave you with, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (KJV).

We celebrate this Saturday as the day God enter humanity through Jesus, the Son of Mary, the Son of God, Son of Man. He is the Lord, Light of the World, the Alpha and Omega, the First and Last, the Good Shepherd, the Lamb of God. He is our everything. Our Lord and Savior. He is our Prince of Peace.

When we have adversity, trials, or some misfortune that comes into our lives we long for peace. Peace of the heart and mind and the peace of God.

Sometime around 1858 an anonymous poem appeared in a magazine in England. No one knows who the author is or was but hopefully is can bring you some peace today. It is a good reminder about peace.

“Prince of Peace, control my will; Bid my struggling heart be still, Bid my fears and doubts to cease, Hush my spirit into peace.

May Thy will, not mine, be done; May Thy will and mine be one; Chase these doubtings from my heart, Now Thy perfect peace impart.”

The world we live in today is growing darker as each day passes and peace is so hard to find in our world today, but we have the almighty Lord and Savior to fall back on. “Let not your heart be troubled.” He said.

John 14: 1 says; “Let not your hearts be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”

Ask him for His peace and when you do, do not just let it go by the way side, claim it. Do not just ask and forget it, grab ahold and hang onto it.

And as we are getting closer to the end of this year, think Him for His mercy and strength. He is the greatest blessing in our life. He is the greatest present we could ever ask for. Ask Him for courage, wisdom, and to open our eyes to the truth.

He promised never to leave or forsake us.

As we begin to wrap up this year, think Him for everything you have. Without Him we would have nothing. Thank Him for His Son, Jesus Christ born on this day we’re talking about. Remember, He went to the cross and paid a debt we could never pay. Let me remind you to keep the faith, study Scripture, obey God, pray, and most of all just give all the praise and glory to Him, our Lord and Savior. The Prince of Peace.

Merry Christmas everyone.
