Build an Ark?

Y’all may remember a few years ago, we were in drought, the ponds and lakes were drying up, and we petitioned God for rain. In the year 2015, during the month of May, He sent forth the rain. Thank You, Lord!

We received a good amount of rain this week at my place with more evidently on the way.

Here’s my story: So I went over to the lumberyard the other day. I actually ended up goin’ to every lumberyard in town, but that’s likely another story. I told them I was lookin’ for some boards. The lumber man wanted to know how long I wanted them boards. I told him I was gonna build a boat. Then he wanted to know how big a boat.

So I told ‘em: “The Boss says to build a boat usin’ gopher wood, it is to have rooms throughout three hundred cubits long by fifty cubits wide, and to make it thirty cubits high. It is to have a window up a cubit from the top and big door in the side of it for all the animals to enter. And it is to have lower, second, and third decks.” What’s a cubit? It’s about half a meter.

Well, next he wanted to know what kind of wood was I gonna use? So I told him, “Gopher wood.” Huh? The guy who actually set out to help me told me he didn’t have any knowledge of that species. I didn’t either. We went to his office and googled it. All the answers indicated there was no right answer. But it was likely a cypress or maybe a cedar.

The lumber man told me the best thing would be to use pine, since he stocked it. I told him we were only going to use it for 40 days and then we’d likely park it on the side of Mount Scott so regular pine would be sufficient. Hey, humor me; my imagination here is somewhat limited. I can’t imagine floating all the way to the Rockies or Mt. Everest! He also told me the cost of lumber had quadrupled! I should have built this ark a couple years ago!

Anyway, I placed the order and I guess it wasn’t God’s will for me to build this boat, because my debit card was declined. It seems that I don’t have that much money in my account. Well, I thought this through—I have a Lumber card, I’ll just use that. Nope, it only had enough credit to build one small room. What was I gonna do?

Well, then I woke up. Now, before y’all go to try to analyze me or my dreams, please understand that my trip to buy lumber is purely fiction. Yep, it’s a fictional dream, and my head ain’t messed up…at least not much.

But, as a child of His, if the Lord God called me to build an ark, I’d better do it. I’d probably either go stake it out or go see what it would cost. With God all things are possible! (If those “things” are His plans)

God told Noah in Genesis 6:14-16, Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch. This is how you shall make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. You shall make a window for the ark, and finish it to a cubit from the top; and set the door of the ark in the side of it; you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks. (nasb)

Noah did as instructed, and he and his wife and sons and their wives were the only ones spared. When God calls us to action; we must do it! I guess that makes us all descendants of Noah.

Let’s pray for and go help our neighbors affected by the floodwaters. So many homes flooded, cars washed off the road, and livelihoods affected. Praying for those who lost loved ones and others that have no place to go home to. And share Jesus with them in your actions and your words. God is good!

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! Pray for the rain! Amen
