They were married Jan. 16, 1881. They moved to Walters in 1901 when it was only a tent town...A marriage license was issued to Paul Vickers, 23, Temple, and Oleta Johnston, 18, Randlett.

A Saturday night re completely destroyed the farm home and possessions of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Michaels and family, six miles west and about ve miles south of Temple. The family was in Dallas visiting a relative...The new post o ice in Walters will be dedicated Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Sherb Fisk, postmaster, announced. The post o ice now employs 12 persons...Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Vache, of Temple, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception in the Temple city hall Sunday. They were married January 17, 1911, in Loose Creek, Mo., and have lived in the Temple community ever since...Change in the o icer personnel of Walters national guard troop was e ective Monday. First Lieutenant Don Bryan is the new troop commander. He is Walters junior high school principal...Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Thurman, Walters, were honored with a reception in their home Sunday, January 8, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Lee and Lorean Chockpoyah welcomed the New Year with the addition of three new great-grandchildren. Sean Michael Brady was born December 8 to Michael and Fredda Brady of Augusta, Ga. Hilton Cade Jones was born December 12 to Tim and Ann Jones of Walters. Sarah LaHoma Ketchum was born January 1 to Mike and Donna Ketchum of Duncan... Three Temple Tiger football members, coached by Delbert Swaner, were named on the all-area team, BC class. This is the rst year for the Tigers to play 8 man football. The three are Harold Thompson and Bobby Warren on the o ensive team, and Roger Stringer on the defensive team...Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Bernard, of Randlett, announce the birth of a thirteen pound son on January 6 at a Wichita Falls hospital... Gordon and Mary Langford are parents of a baby girl, Amanda Michelle, born December 23. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ted Sullivan, Lawton, and Velma Langford, Walters.

Elmer J. Co er, electronics technician third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Co er of Temple, and husband of the former Miss Anna M. Seay of Walters, returned to Long Beach April 10 aboard the destroyer USS Leonard F. Mason after a ve month cruise in the Far East...Saturday morning, Dr. W. E. Manatt, after making a house call, stopped at the post o ice and could not get his late model Oldsmobile started. He left it and walked to the Temple Clinic. Approximately 30 minutes later the re alarm blew and someone called to tell Dr. Manatt that his car was on re. The re department extinguished the blaze under the hood once with fog, but it burst into ame again and they put it out again, this time for keeps. Damage to the wiring, reboard and hood paint job was extensive.
