R. D. Stevenson, living two miles north and two miles east of Walters, was the lucky person who had the winning ticket for the drawing of a new car given away by the merchants of Walters on Christmas Eve. 4,000 people held 150,000 tickets. Mr. Stevenson was not the owner of a car, and now this will be the means of making an anticipated holiday trip...A marriage license was issued to Leroy Monroe of Hastings, and Bertha Green, 18, of Temple; Homer Randall, 21, Hastings, and Ruby Williams, 19, Temple; U. V. Brashears, 21, Walters, and Elsie Snider, 18, Duncan...Miss Olga Tilley and Claud Daniel were united in marriage early Christmas morning at the Presbyterian manse. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tilley of the Hulen community, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Daniel of west of Walters.

Walters is going to lose one of its doctors next week, and Tipton community is going to benefit. Dr. R.L. Brown, who has been associated with Dr. H.R. Corbett at Community Clinic, has completed plans to move his family to Tipton to become the lone doctor of that community...Mr. and Mrs. Robert Berendzen of Walters are the parents of a daughter, Celeste, born Wednesday, December 21. The new mother is the former Miss Rebecca Davis...Mr. and Mrs. J.R. (Bob) Park, Walters, will observe their golden wedding anniversary with a family reunion at their home on West Colorado Street, Sunday, December 25. They were married in Lawton, December 22, 1910...Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Daniel, Walters, have chosen the name Donald Wayne, Jr., for their son born December 9. The new mother is the former Miss Claudette Daniel...City of Walters has a new resuscitator to replace one which grew old and weak and could not be revived either with artifical respiration or new parts...Rev. W.E. Russell will preach his closing sermons at First Baptist church in Walters Christmas and will leave with his family Monday for Barstow, California, where he has a pastorate...Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Dunn, Randlett, will celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on December 25, with a reception at the Masonic Hall in Randlett.

A fire at the home of W. A. McIlhaney, elderly Temple resident, caused considerable damage to his three-room home at 621 W. Ohio Saturday around 8 p.m. Dick Evans, who lives in the neighborhood, noticed the blaze from his car, stopped and told McIlhaney’s grandson, who lives next door to turn in the alarm. Evans and the youth then entered the home, awakening McIlhaney, who was in another room. Evans carried McIlhaney from the home to the home of his daughter-in-law next door...Vera Wilson was elected city clerk in Tuesday’s election by a large margin...Donnie Anderson, junior student, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Anderson, Temple, will attend the American Legion sponsored Boys State at Norman June 8-15...Gordon Dowlen, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Tab Dowlen, Temple, is serving this week in the Oklahoma Legislature as a page. Also from Cotton county is Mike Thompson, Walters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Verne Thompson.
