Paul Mershon, druggist, won a landslide victory over Dave W. Boyer, incumbent, in the city race for commissioner of finance in Tuesday’s heavy balloting. Final count of the votes showed 781 for Mershon and 210 for Boyer...Verrol Johnson, manager of the J. C. Jones store here for the past four years, announced that he has resigned his position to open his own shoe store, Johnson Shoe store, first door north of the City Drug...Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Daniels are parents of a daughter, born Thursday, April 7...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Clay Hart, of West Cache community, on March 29...A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Howard (Cotton) Graham, of Temple route 2, on March 25...Explosion of a gasoline stove resulted in destruction of the house occupied by Mrs. Innes Sykes and her son, Harbison, and his wife, last week. The house was located on the Jackson place in the Ahpeatone community... Miss Inez Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Rose, and Marshall Watts, were married Sunday afternoon in the home of the groom’s parents in the Riverland community. They will reside at Geronimo.

Edgmon, Wichita Falls, are the parents of a daughter, Jan Julene, born March 18. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Edgmon, Walters, and Mrs. Norma Parks, Odessa, Texas...Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Phillips, Wichita Falls, have chosen the name Lisa Jean for their daughter born March 26. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Phillips, Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Otis Mason, of Wichita Falls...Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ray, Walters, are parents of a son born April 2. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Andy Ray and Mr. and Mrs. John Bailey, all of Walters... Mr. Wayne Ressel and Miss Margaret Phillips were united in marriage Saturday evening in the Hulen Methodist church. Mr. Ressel is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Ressel, of Randlett, and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frosty Phillips of the Hulen community.

Charles Petty, who has completed 15 years as a member of the board of directors of the Walters Coop Elevator Association, resigned his position. Frank Kerr was elected to fill that position. Other board members are Dewayne High, president, Marvin Scherler, vice president, Wes Scherler, secretary, and Lois Fletcher.

H. D. (Dee) Foster, city marshal, is reportedly doing just fine this week after receiving a rather severe setback Wednesday in the form of a pair of heart attacks. His leg, injured in the accidental gunshot wound, is making satisfactory progress... Miss Dana Jo McClenny, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McClenny, will give a report on 1959 Girl’s State to the American Legion Auxiliary at a meeting Monday night.
