Mose Poolaw, 42-year-old Kiowa Indian, who has played baseball on many of the professional teams in the land, revealed here this week while visiting with his brother-inlaw, Cecil Titchywy, that he has retired from athletics and taken up politics. His professional baseball career began when he was signed by Houston in the Texas league in 1919 after his college days at Haskell Institute at Lawrence, Kans. A few days ago Mose met Jim Thorpe in Oklahoma City. He and Jim played baseball on the all-Indian team that toured this country and Mexico a couple of years ago. Mose, who grew up in Mountain View, has two brothers in vaudeville in New York...Frank Handy, Jr., of Lawton, has moved to Walters to operate the Broadway Garage just north of Merit Dry Goods store...Mr. and Mrs. Linton Busby, of Temple, announce the arrival January 21 of Donald Lynn. Mrs. Busby was formerly Miss Modena Burton, of Randlett...Joe Ed Griffin was born to Mr. and Mrs. Foster Griffin January 24, at Grandfield hospital...We are very sorry that Mary Ellen Hoodenpyle, of the Roosevelt community, is having to take rabies treatments after being badly bitten by a dog Saturday. The dog was killed by Mr. P. C. Hoodenpyle.

The residence of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Scherler, 13 miles west and two miles north of Walters, was completely destroyed by fire of unknown origin Thursday afternoon of last week.
