Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sheppard are the parents of a daughter, Janet Sue, born Monday, Oct. 18...Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Shelley are the parents of a new baby girl...Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Snyder celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary October 18. They were married in Breckenridge county, Kentucky, and for the past 30 years have lived in the vicinity of Walters...Mervin Allmon is here on a 10-day leave from service in the U. S. navy, visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. K. Allmon. Mervin was aboard the U.S.S. Lexington during the widespread search in the Pacific for Amelia Earhart.

He will then report to Ft. Benning, Ga... Mr. and Mrs. James Garison, Walters, have chosen the name David Wayne for their son born October 11. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fletcher, Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Dorvin Garison, of Hastings.
The Walters Herald Oct. 21, 1982 The new Heritage Apartments on the west side of the city are now completed and could see the first tenants by the end of the week. The complex of three two-story buildings, consists of 24 apartments. Sixteen of them have two bedrooms, four have three bedrooms and four have one bedroom...Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fletcher will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Sunday, October 31, with a reception in the Cotton Electric Civic Room. Raymond Fletcher and Ann Murrell were married October 29, 1932, in the Baptist parsonage in Walters...Mr. and Mrs. Quannah Griffin will celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary with a reception at the Union Valley Baptist church on October 24.
The Temple Tribune Jan. 29, 1959 Dale Dixon, son of Mrs. Berneice Dixon, formerly of Temple and now of Lawton, and Teddy Ogilbee, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ogilbee, left Monday for San Diego where they will undergo basic training, having enlisted in the navy...Janis Gayle Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Wilson, has been named 1959 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow at Temple High school. She received the highest score on a 50-minute written examination on homemaking knowledge and attitudes taken by graduating senior girls in her school.
