Work was begun immediately on the office of the Chickasha Gin at Randlett Monday after being destroyed by fire. The building was struck by lightning Friday night...Miss Vivian Sticher and Leland Morrow were married Monday night, October 11, in the Baptist parsonage. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Sticher who live northeast of Walters. The groom is the son of John Morrow of Prague, and a brother of Gordon Morrow of Walters...Miss Wanda Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Thompson, Jr., and Homer Pope, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Pope, of west of Walters, were married Saturday, October 2, in Duncan... Miss Dorothy LaVerne Henderson and W. C. Stamper, Jr. were married Sunday at the home of the groom’s parents in Duncan. The bride is the sister of Mrs. George Grimes of the North Mountain View community, with whom she has made her home for a number of years. Mr. Stamper finished highschool at Ahpeatone...Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kerr have moved in at Dextor store. There seems to be a sign of business with the new owners...Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Thomas, of Emerson, are the parents of a daughter, Mildred Louise... Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Herrin, of North Mountain View, are parents of a daughter, Mary Ellen, born Tuesday, Oct. 5.

The Walters Herald Oct. 11, 1962 United Super Market in Walters opened its doors for business Thursday morning at a new building on West Missouri street. The building was built by Pete Richards and the store is owned by Jim Snell of Altus. John Powell is the manager, Hartford Parker assistant manager, and Dan Wagner manager of the meat market...Army Pvt. Gerald L. Sorge, whose wife Barbara, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tim H. Sorge, live on Route 2, Temple, recently completed eight weeks of military police training at Fort Gordon, Ga... Dubber Goff opened Dubber’s D-X Station at 118 W. Missouri, in Walters this week...Valley View Baptist church six miles east of Walters, was re-organized Thursday of last week at a meeting of residents of the community. Rev. John V. Smith, of Lawton, was appointed pastor by the members.

Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Pickett, of Amarillo, Tex...Miss Julie Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Simpson, was crowned Football Queen at the Temple High School Homecoming game Friday night. She was escorted to the field by game captain Jodie Reece, nephew of Virginia and Royce Stringer. Queen candidates were Julie Wickham and Shawna Simpson. Their escorts were Brandon Spencer and Ronald Simpson.

The Temple Tribune Jan. 22, 1959 The Temple Tribune was founded February 6, 1902 by E. G. Etzold, Russell Monroe and Arthur L. Walker. Joint ownership continued for a few years until Etzold became sole owner in 1908. In 1923, Mr. Etzold became postmaster for Temple and later in that year sold the paper to Mr. Charles F. Luja. Mr. Luja published The Tribune from 1923 until 1947, when he sold it to the Herald Publishing Co. in Walters. It was edited by Jeter W. Bryan until 1952, and since that time, the editor has been C. M. (Jack) Cooper.
