Loading Rambo

The story of loading Rambo is a particularly interesting story. Any time livestock involves a trip to the hospital, it is a story worth remembering.

Many years ago, we had a rank ole’ 850 lb. wheat pasture steer that I wanted to get loaded on the truck so we wouldn’t have to put up with his meanness anymore! Well, I had him and another calf in a pen at the back of the corral. We were loading out cattle on another place, and I decided now would be a good time for Rambo to get on the truck. I ran home right quick, so as to load him in a stock trailer. Well, I ran him out of his pen and up the alley and towards the trailer and, all of a sudden, he turned around and ran right back at me. He punched me right in the face with one of his short-sawed horns. He ripped my top lip open clear to my nose. Now, I didn’t realize any of this for a couple of minutes because I evidently lost consciousness. I remember coming to and my shirt was all wet. It was blood! I then called my wife, Cheryl, on to tell her it was time to go back to the hospital again and hurry because I seem to be bleeding just a little.

Well, she arrived to see me with a split lip and wearing red. So she loaded me up and we went to the emergency room. I did get Rambo loaded before I left, and I called the guys to come and get him. I had to explain that I was taking a couple hours off to go and get some sewing done. We showed up at the e.r. and to my surprise, a friend was my doctor. At least he was someone who knew what I looked like before I got my lip ripped off! I remember telling Doc, “If you don’t think you can sew my lip back up then please go get someone who can. I didn’t want to lose my handsome good looks. Yeah, anyway, he assured me that he was quite capable. And he did well with what he had to work with.

Hopefully, most of y’all don’t have to look at blood all over your loved ones like my wife did that day, unless you are a doctor or nurse. It works out a lot better if we keep our blood on the inside of our bodies.

In a comparative way, Jesus’ blood flows throughout the entire Body of Christ. His blood covers all our sin! On our own, without Christ, we fall short of the glory of God. Jesus prepared the way!

1 Peter 1:18-19 “…you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.” (nasb)

Jesus shed his blood at the cross for your sins and mine. If we will turn control of our life over to Jesus and follow Him, by His blood we are saved. The red blood of Jesus makes us white as snow. In the 1800’s, Pastor Robert Lowry wrote the following:

What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the Blood of Jesus

What can make me whole again? Nothing but the Blood of Jesus

Oh, precious is the flow That makes me white as snow

No other fount I know Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.

Romans 5:8-9, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.” (nasb)

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! And hey, y’all let us all be of one accord and pray for some rain on this parched land! Amen!
