Finish Strong

(It seems I came down with the Covid this past week. It hasn’t been just awful, but I would prefer not to have it.) Lookin’ back, I thought this might be of use for y’all this week!

I’ve been listenin’ to some of them catchy country music lyrics again on Al Gore’s internet again. You know the ones with the catchy titles like - I SURE MISS YOU, BABY, BUT MY AIM’S GETTIN’ BETTER

Like many of y’all, I have listened to a lot country music over the years. I’ll have to admit, I’m more into classic country music. You know…the old stuff. They had the most thoughtprovoking messages and stories. Here are a few songs from back yonder somewhere that had catchy titles and interesting lyrics:

- How Can I Miss You If You Won’t Go Away?

- His Teeth Was Stained, But His Heart Was Pure

- Mama Get A Hammer (There’s A Fly On Papa’s Head)

- My Wife Ran Off With My Best Friend, And I Sure Do Miss Him

- You’re The Reason Our Kids Are So Ugly

- If the Phone Don’t Ring You Know Its Me

Clay Walker wrote a country song and sang and released it back in the early 90’s called: “LIVE

UNTIL I DIE”

And I don´t wanna think about tomorrow. I don´t need anything money can buy

I don´t have to beg, steal, or borrow. I just wanna live until I die

Well, when you think about it, don’t we all! …I just wanna live until I die.

We want to experience life. Enjoy and live every day to its fullest!

As John Wayne would say, “We’re burnin’ daylight.” We need to get goin’. But many of us just endure life. Some even downright dread it. Others try to escape it. But why not just go on ahead and live it. ‘Cause some day you’ll be dead and gone. So just live til you die.

Paul writes to the Ephesians and I countryfied it: Y’all need to be careful how you ride, not being foolish, but wise on the trail. You have to make the most of your time so don’t be lured into takin’ a wrong trail for the days ahead contain evil. So then, don’t be no fool, but understand what the Boss requires of you! (from Eph. 5:15-17, Paul might not have wrote it quite like that)

In this year of 2022, why not “live life…enjoy life…experience life?

Why not just go ahead and live each day to its fullest! How about “live each day until you die.

We need to understand some things in order to get ‘er done right:

1. Life is short, be careful! Don’t ride like no doggone fool. Ride so that you and your “hoss” can complete the job. Use your time to the fullest! Benjamin Franklin wrote, “Don’t waste time, it the stuff of which life is made.” Life is very short!!! We need to live life to the fullest in Christ, follow and ride for Him!!!

2. Make the most of your time. Spend it with Him! The days contain evil. So, instead, fill your day with the Boss’ love. Paul took advantage of every opportunity. He lived for Christ! Scripture tells us to do the same:

3. Understand the job the Boss has for you and get to work! Like Paul said, “Finish strong!” Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! Invite Him to bring forth the Rain! Amen!
