Going Home!

Thank You, Lord for the rain!

Let’s talk about the home place some more. Here in Oklahoma, many of us have a place in our family that we think of as the home place. For some of you, it may be where you live today. Or it may be the place that Great Great Grandpa homesteaded over a hundred years ago. It may have been sold generations ago, but the family still thinks of it as the old home place.

It doesn’t matter where your “home place” was or is, it is only temporary. Yes, it holds a special place in our memories, but it will soon be no longer.

Jesus speaks of our real home place in John chapter 14. Jesus is sitting with his disciples in that upper room having a very special supper. It would be His last as He was preparing to go to the cross. He told them how He must suffer and die, and then go back to heaven.

He comforts them by informing them what their future as true believers and followers of Christ will be like.

John 14:1-4, "Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going." (nasb)

"My Father’s house" is, of course, heaven. And heaven is our home! We want to live as if this earth contained our home, but our stay here on the 3rd rock from the sun is only temporary. This isn’t our home. We’re just passin’ thru.

Paul writes in 2 Cor 5:1, For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (nasb)

Heaven will be amazing!

God will be there. Revelation 21:4 describes Heaven for us….

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." (nasb)

Look at Rev. 21:16-27 - It’s a huge place, city and streets made out of gold, gates made of pearl, God’s glory will light the place up, and there will be no evil there.

The world is temporary, but heaven is forever!

Well, okay so how do we get there? Well, Jesus made it all possible when He went to the cross to die for our sins. But we must accept and follow Him. We must surrender our lives to Him. He becomes our Boss!

In John 14:5. It would seem that Thomas didn’t understand the way, but Jesus told him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."

The only way to the Home Place is to know Jesus! All you have to do is just talk to Him about it. Over in Romans 10, we learn, "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." (nasb)

I’d be glad to help you get to know Him! And I’m sure you have a relative or friend who would be glad to sit down and share with you how to invite Christ to be your Lord and Savior!

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! Pray for the rain! Amen
