Doubting Thomas

Why do we doubt? God speaks to our hearts; we know the Truth and yet we still don’t get it. Why? I certainly don’t comprehend a lot of things.

A man was walking along a trail, not paying much attention to where he was going. Suddenly he slipped over the edge of a cliff. As he fell, he grabbed a branch growing from the side of the cliff. Realizing that he couldn’t hang on for long, he called for help.

“Is anybody up there?” “Yes, I’m here!” “Who’s that?” “The Lord God” “Lord, help me!” “Do you trust me?” “I trust you completely, Lord.” “Good. Then let go of the branch.”

“What???” “I said, Let go of the branch.” (After a long pause) “Is there anybody else up there?”

And finally, he let go and found he was only 3 feet from the ground.

But it’s not enough to just believe, we must have something called faith!

Jesus had just died a terrible death, what happens now? Could it be that they didn’t comprehend what Jesus had been telling them? But on Sunday morning, Jesus arose out of His tomb! Jesus is alive!

And on Sunday evening, Jesus appeared before the disciples, but Thomas wasn’t with them. Jesus showed them both His hands and His side, and the disciples rejoiced to see Him.

Jn 20: 25 So the other disciples were saying to him, 'We have seen the Lord!' But Thomas said to them, 'Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.'

26 After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, ' Peace be with you.'

27 Then He said to Thomas, ' Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.'

28 Thomas answered and said to Him, 'My Lord and my God!'

29 Jesus said to him, 'Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.' (nasb) Thomas had earlier been willing to die with Jesus, so he believed in what Jesus was doing. But, for some reason, he couldn’t believe that Jesus could have possibly survived such a terrible death. But Jesus did not survive, He actually died! But then, on the morning of the third day God said something like, Son, come out of the grave, and Jesus arose, the stone was rolled away, and He lives. And Thomas overcame his doubt with faith.

Jesus made it that we, too can have eternal life in Him.

Choose Jesus, choose life! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! And y’all please KEEP PRAYIN’ for RAIN! It keeps the drought away! Amen.
