Washington, D.C. – Today, on National Agriculture Day, Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement: “As a lifelong Oklahoman, I know firsthand just how important our farmers, producers, growers, and ranchers are. In fact, Oklahoma ranks first in the nation in the production of rye, third in the nation in the production of wheat, fifth in the production of cattle, sixth in the production of pecans and grain sorghum, seventh in peanuts, and twelfth in watermelon. Agriculture really is such a large part of life in our state, and our farmers truly are essential to not only Oklahoma, but to the entire nation,” said Congressman Cole. “Today, on National Agriculture Day, I want to make sure that our nation’s farmers receive the recognition and thanks they deserve for all they do to put food on our tables and fuel the American people.”
