Roy Hollingsworth, Jr., Durant, began his duties as news editor of The Walters Herald this week following the transfer of Wallace Kidd to The Anadarko Daily News... Miss Helen Collins, of the Gregg community, was chosen to reign as queen at the Southwest Turkey Carnival here over a field of 29 other aspirants last week...Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Speir, Walters, are the parents of a daughter, Dixie Diane, born Friday, Nov. 5... Dr. and Mrs. W. W. Cotton, Walters, have adopted a daughter, Martha Lou, born Oct. 10... Frank Parrish has joined the Cotton County Motor Co. as a new car salesman...The marriage of Miss Eva Delle Crow, of Temple, to Taylor Dunn, of Walters, was solemnized Nov. 4, in the Christian parsonage. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Crow, of Temple. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Dunn, of Randlett... Mrs. Sally Foster and Charles Horton, both of Walters, were married in Walters, Friday evening, Nov. 5, by Justice of the Peace McAlpine.
The Walters Herald Nov. 8, 1962 Miss Sharon Jones became the bride of Walter Don Kerr in an exchange of vows Saturday, October 27, in the Walters First Baptist church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Jones, of Lawton, former Walters residents. The bridegroom’s parents are Mrs. Ida Kerr, Weatherford, and Joe Kerr, Randlett...Walters sixth grade 4-H club elected officers and selected projects at a meeting Monday afternoon. Arlon Johnson and Mrs. Betty Dahms, county extension agents, conducted the meeting. Officers elected were; Harvey Rash, president; Steve Fletcher, vice president; Wes Lavin, secretary-reporter; Susan Price, song leader; Linda Matejak, game leader; Geneva Logan and Ralph Holt, captains.
The Walters Herald Nov. 11, 1982 Dr. Ed Christiansen, who has been associated with Dr. Dee Ray Gott in the practice of dentistry, announced last week that he was relocating his practice to Lawton...Phillip and Linda White announce the birth of a daughter, Lindsey Deanne, born October 25. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Phil White. Foster grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sanderson... Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Davis, of Walters, announce the birth of a son, Corey Leon, on Tuesday, November 2. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Emmett King. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Calfy, all of Walters.
The Temple Tribune Feb. 19, 1959 Leon Douglass, assistant manager of the IGA Food store, received a laceration to his left leg Tuesday which will incapacitate him for some time. Douglass was climbing into the bed of a pickup truck and injured the leg on the spare tire rack. A number of stitches were required to close the wound in the bend of the leg.
