The J. C. Jones department store has rented the Wiley-Wollam building one door south of their present location, and will remodel and redecorate the space which is double in size to their present location. They have operated a store in Walters for the past five years...A daughter, Marilyn Kay, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hilbert on February 2...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Gomer High on February 9...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Homer Randall, of Temple, on January 29...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. M. McKinney, of Randlett, on February 8...Frank Parrish took over the duties of the tag agent in Walters Saturday. Parrish succeeded Tom Speir, who has been tag agent for more than five years... Miss Hazel Fletcher and Leonard Lowe, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Lowe, of the Prospect community, were married Tuesday evening in the home of Rev. H. A. Reeves, pastor of the Valley View Baptist church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Fletcher, of Walters.

A. B. Thurman, superintendent of schools in Walters, was elected by the board of education Monday night to serve his tenth year as head of the local system...Miss Anita Thompson, of Dallas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Thompson, of Walters, has returned from an eight month tour of the British Isles, Europe and the Middle East...Jack O’Dell said this week that he plans to start a taxi service for Walters, both inside the city and to the turnpike area west of Walters.

Mr. and Mrs. Marty McCasland, of Devol, announce the arrival of their son, Dustin Allen Durell, born January 13. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Roger Villarreal, of Randlett, and Mr. and Mrs. Don McCasland, of Devol...Lena Whitten, who makes her home in Temple with her daughter and son-in-law, Marguerite and Verneal Henderson, celebrated her 100th birthday Thursday, January 26. Lena was born January 26, 1884, in Forrest City, Ark. Her father, George Sanders, was a judge on the supreme court in Arkansas. Her mother died when she was only three weeks old. She lived with a great-aunt at Wall Hall, Miss., where she received her education and taught school. She married John W. L. Whitten in December 1903. They moved to a farm one mile south of Lawton...Mr. and Mrs. Ralph R. White will celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary with a family dinner. Ralph R. White and Sophronia J. Brown were married February 9, 1934, in Lawton. They lived in the Emerson-Ahpeatone community until 1945, when they moved to the Plainview-Hulen community...Tonya Robertson became the bride of Jerry Thompson January 21, in the Randlett Baptist church. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Robertson and Mr. and Mrs. Jerral Thompson, all of Randlett.
