Miss Gladys Roller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Roller, and Gordon Morrow, son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Morrow, of Prague, were married Sunday morning at the home of the bride’s parents...Formal opening of the Walters Swimming pool located in Sultan Park has been announced by the manager, Tom Hooper...More than 300 Indians of different tribes and religious denominations filled the “Little Brown Church” south of Walters Sunday afternoon and Sunday night for the singing convention arranged and supervised by Rev. and Mrs. H. F. Gilbert. Indians from many districts including Little Washita, Mount Scott, Post Oak Mission, Apache, Deyo Mission, Lawton and Fletcher journeyed to the church to participate in the group meeting. S. A. Cook, Walters Indian farm agent, this week encouraged more of “these meetings among Indians.”

James R. Bradford, high school principal, resigned his position to accept a position in the Lawton high school system. Mrs. Bradford will also teach there. Bradford came to Walters in 1948, teaching in the high school. With the resignation of James Sanders as high school principal, Bradford was elected to that position. Bill Schumpert, who served the past year as junior high principal, was named high school principal. Clifford Varner, who has been an instructor in the science department, was named junior high principal...Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kirkpatrick, of Randlett, announce the birth of a son born May 31, in a Wichita Falls hospital...Clyde Davis, of Randlett, received burns over both arms and his face Saturday when the propane which he was filling his pickup with ignited...Miss Sharon Ann McClurkan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. McClurkan, of Devol, and Don Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nora Williams, of Burkburnett, were united in marriage last Friday evening, May 24, in the Church of Christ in Burkburnett.

Alvin (Ducky) Meyer will retire today after 23 years with the Walters Post Office, all of it spent in the office...Frances Sanders was installed president of the Temple Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for the second consecutive term. Also installed were: Pat Wise, Sr. vice president; Lorene Pennington, Jr. vice president; Merilla Roberts, secretary; Hazel Knox, treasurer; Louise Kindred, historian; Debbie Reynolds, conductress; Sarah Tipton, chaplain; Ruby Williams, guard; and Pat Leseney, patriotic instructor.

Rev. and Mrs. John Stow are parents of a daughter born September 13 at Southwestern hospital. She has been named Cheryll Denise... Dave Richardson has been re-appointed to the board of trustees for Temple and elected president of the group - again...Mrs. Dola Thompson, elementary teacher in the Temple school system, will be honored by the State Fair of Oklahoma on teacher recognition day, Saturday, September 26.
