Margaret Allen, senior candidate for football queen, won the crown in a race with aspirants from the other three Walters high school classes. Her class turned in the largest amount of money to the local athletic association...The marriage of Miss Jewell Copeland and Escar Wann was solemnized last Wednesday at Lawton. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Copeland of the Emerson community. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Wann, formerly of Walters, but who now live near Temple...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Marion Phillips on Monday, November 11...A free trip to the National Farmers’ Union convention at Kankakee, Ill., is the prize of Lorene Powers, senior high school Ahpeatone student, for writing the best essay in the state contest on the subject, “Power and Machines.”

Miss Hazel Geraldine Veach of Walters became the bride of Charles Ray Hamlin, Fort Sill, in a wedding ceremony solemnized October 26 in the Trinity Baptist church in Lawton...Robert (Butch) Yeilding of Temple was the driver of an army tank, part of the equipment of Walters national guard unit, that went out of control late Wednesday morning west of Temple and tore out part of an overflow bridge adjacent to East Cache Creek. Report was that as the tank pulled onto the bridge from the east it was apparently too close to the right side. The driver pulled the tank to the left, and it contacted the south railing. Four or five posts and the railings were knocked out, and the west abutment of the bridge was broken. The tank then went over the embankment and into the fill, stopping 58 feet from the bridge...Mrs. Vida Lee Eoff, widow of the late Clyde Eoff, principal at Ahpeatone school, will serve as head of the two-teacher grade school for the balance of the term...Dwaine Colyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis L. Colyer, Temple, enlisted in the United States Navy last week...An automobile driven by Venita Liles, 25, of Walters went out of control on a curve one mile north and one-tenth mile west of the city Saturday morning at 12:55 and ended up on its back in a ditch on the north side of the road. The woman was shaken up and sustained minor injuries.

Temple city council has hired a man-wife team, Mike and Sharon Shelton, to read each water meter, each month. Jerry McMenamin has been hired by the city as water superintendent, with Johnny Spence as helper, and another city employee is Billy McGinnis...Lacy Star Sellars, Jr. was installed as associate pastor of First Presbyterian church of El Dorado, Ark. He graduated in May from Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He is married to the former Darlene High, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gomer High, of Walters...James and Sharry Doty announce the birth of a son, Bradon James, born Thursday, November 6 at Wichita Falls. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Byron Keys, of Burkburnett, and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Doty, of Devol.

Approximately 100 evergreens are being planted at the Masonic cemetery to replace those that were victims of the drouth of last summer and grasshappers...The wedding of Pauline Graham and Jerry Kinnaird will be an event of Saturday, February 23, in the First Methodist church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Graham, while the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kinnaird, of Union Valley.
