Clarence Joachim, new county administrative assistant, assumed his duties this week in the position vacated last week by R. J. Christian, who was transferred to Lawton. Joachim came here from Marietta in Love county...Car belonging to Lonnie Glasgow, who operates a station east of Walters, was burned near Waurika Friday. Glasgow was reported to have been on his way to Waurika, and was nearing town when he discovered his car ablaze. He could not determine the cause of the fire, his mother stated here this week...Thomas Clare Balding III was born September 18 to Mr. and Mrs. Clare Balding, Jr... Robert Glenn Hannabas was born to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hannabas September 18...Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hertzler, of Ahpeatone, are the parents of a son, Jerry Ray, born last week...A son, Richard Dowlen, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jay F. Smith, September 20...A son, Harvey Malcolm, was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis, September 7...Arnold Nored, who attended high school at Ahpeatone, and later Cameron Junior college, was selected this week as a member of the Varsity male quartet at the Oklahoma A. & M. college.

Miss Vicky Jeanelle Jennings and James Patrick Boyd exchanged wedding vows Sunday, September 1, in the First Baptist church in Walters. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Jennings, of Walters, and the parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. J. Z. Boyd, of Granite...Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brown, of Walters, will be honored at an open house reception in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon, September 29, in the Cotton Electric Civic Room. Tom Brown and the former Myrtle Howard were married September 27, 1913, in the Presbyterian parsonage in Walters. Their children are Mrs. Mitt Dowlen, of Midland, Texas, and Earl Brown, of Victoria, Texas...Mr. and Mrs. Earnest R. Brown, of Walters, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a reception in their home Sunday, September 14. Their children are Mrs. Dave Lambert, of Petersburg, Texas, and Lois Brown, of Walters...Miss Nita Sue Bowles became the bride of Jackie J. Green, Randlett, in a ceremony read August 20, in the Union Valley Baptist church. Parents of the bride are Mrs. Flora Bowles, Temple, and B. J. Bowles, Jr., Randlett, while the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Green, of Randlett...Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Goode, Randlett, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 22, with an open house at the Masonic hall in Randlett.

A daughter, Linsay Dee, was born to Larry and Beverly Edgmon, of Walters, on Saturday, August 27. Maternal grandparents are Fay and D. O. Palmer, Jr.. Paternal grandparents are Jimmy and Sylvia Edgmon, all of Walters... Mr. and Mrs. Harry T. Urice celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary with a reception given by the family at Parkview Manor. Mr. Urice came to this area from Keyser, W. Va., in 1907, and Mrs. Urice, the former Bertha Tilly, arrived from Pana, Ill., in 1908. They were married September 12, 1916, when they eloped to Montague, Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. Grady Tucker, former cafe operators in Temple, have purchased the City Cafe from Mrs. Ruby Glenn...Joint public installation ceremonies will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Masonic hall for officers of Temple Lodge No. 210 and the Order of Eastern Star, F. M. Wagner, outgoing Masonic head, said. Joe D. Creswell has already been installed as new worshipful master of the lodge. Other elective officers are Otho Dilks, senior warden and Billy Dilks, junior warden. Eastern Star officers to be installed will be Mrs. Robert Allen, worthy matron; Mrs. Rod Rodrick, associate matron; Mrs. J. D. Lynch, conductress; Mrs. F. M. Wagner, associate conductress; and Mrs. John Stow, secretary.
