The home of J. P. Morrison, south of Temple, was burned to the ground early Wednesday by fire of undetermined origin. Mr. and Mrs. Morris had been gone to Sherman, Tex., since Tuesday... Purchase of the Walters Pharmacy by Pat L. Jones, of Clinton, and J. T. Jones, Walters, was announced Saturday. It will be re-named the Jones Drug Co. Dr. W. B. Harned, former owner, announced he would join the medical corps of the U. S. Army at Albuquerque, N. M. Dr. G. W. Baker, Walters physician, has established offices in the store since the change of ownership...W. E. Jarrell opened the Chili Billy cafe in Trammell’s old location...Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Barnett have a daughter born Sunday, Nov. 8...Marriage licenses were issued to Jessie J. Wright, 45, and Marie Hobgood, 19, both of Walters; Alton Clarence Coy, 24, and Cordelia Swinford, 27, both of Temple; and John R. Miller, 25, and Inez Giles, 19, both of Randlett.

Billy E. Grimes, convicted slayer of his father, pleaded guilty to the rifle death of his mother on arraignment Tuesday in district court at Walters. County attorney LeGrande recommended a sentence of life imprisonment at hard labor, which Judge Luther Eubanks imposed. Grimes had been sentenced to life imprisonment on his first conviction. He will be returned to McAlester State Penitentiary...Minnie’s Beauty Salon is now open for business at 109 N. Broadway... Business is already brisk at the big new warehouse area of the Walters Coop Elevator, located at the northwest edge of Walters, says manager Robert John.

Carl Woods has opened a garage and tire service in connection with a cafe at the junction of US 70 and SH 277 in Randlett...Mr. and Mrs. Keith Sanderson announce the birth of a daughter, Sandee Lynn, born November 2. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sanderson... Charles (Jerry) and Patricia Ray announce the birth of a son, Charles David, born November 4. Maternal grandmother is Mrs. Velma Langford, of Walters...The home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Harris in Devol, was heavily damaged by fire of undetermined origin Friday evening. The family was away from home when the fire was noticed by someone passing by who summoned help.

Judy Clayton was crowned queen and Claud Spurlock king of the Valentine sweetheart banquet and party held last Monday in the Fellowship hall of the First Baptist church... Mrs. J. W. Knox, mother of Robert, George and Earl Knox, all of Temple, was surprised recently with a 90th anniversary birthday party at the home of a daughter southeast of Lawton. Ice cream was served from 100-year-old dishes which belonged to Mrs. Knox’s mother, Mrs. S. Q. Miller. Mrs. Knox was born in Hodginsville, Ky., February 6, 1868...Mr. and Mrs. Jerry L. Kinnaird are parents of a son, Ronald Lynn, born February 10. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Graham, Temple. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Kinnaird, Devol.
