Robert Masterson, 61

Bobby Masterson, born as Robert Glen Masterson on June 20th, 1962 in Bakersfield, CA, began his journey to the Lord January 10th 2024 surrounded by his family. The void he will leave here on earth is only palatable because of the knowledge we have that as a man of faith, he will be sitting alongside not only God, but his Father Bill Masterson Sr., his Uncle Chris Masterson, and his mother-in-law, Elaine Erwin who have preceded him in death.

Bobby spent his early childhood growing up as a “California” boy in both Bakersfield and Merced, CA. He then came to Oklahoma to start his high school years playing football first at Antlers, High School, as the quarterback, where his uncle Chris was the head football coach. Bobby then moved back to Lawton where he played both football and baseball, graduating from Eisenhower High School in 1980.

Bobby moved to the Oklahoma City area in 1980 and has been a fixture in the area for over 43 years providing unconditional love and support for family, friends, and strangers he never knew, but he knew they needed help.

Bobby was an incredibly successful businessman in the car business working for the Bob Howard Auto Group. He started as a salesman and worked his way up to becoming part owner in some of the franchises, before selling to a publicly traded company and staying on as the platform manager running the operations. Bobby retired from the auto industry to focus on enjoying his two sons’ high school years and then went back to work in the insurance business after the boys had graduated.

Bobby was a very generous donor to several causes in the area, but the Genisis House was his passion. He donated not only financial support, but several years of service to the organization before joining the board in 2019 and becoming president in 2022. A memorial in Bobby's name has been set up at the Genisis Home for Boys in Edmond, OK.

Through it all, and for the last 34 years, Bobby could count on his one true love, his wife Elyse. Bobby is survived by Elyse and his son Blake and daughter in law Sarah, along with his first grandchild Harper from Oklahoma City, his son Brody, and daughter-inlaw Ashton from Oklahoma City. His mother Dixie Calfy and stepfather Buck from Walter, OK. His brother Bill and sister-in-law Julie from Grove, OK, his brother Ricky from Bonita Springs, FL, half-brother Tom Campos from Herriman, UT, and stepbrother Bucky Calfy from Norman, OK.

Additional surviving members include his sisterin- law, Gillian who he raised as a daughter, her husband Jacob and their daughter Nina from Jersey City, NJ. A brother-in-law Scott from Chickasha, OK and a sisterin- law Courtney Osborn from Tulsa, OK.

A celebration of life is planned for 10am, January 26th at Aspen Ranch 1000 Winners Circle, Edmond, OK. Services will be followed by a reception and then private graveside services for the family at 2pm.
