Graveside services for Leon Sevier, Jr., 70, Norman, OK will be at Walters Cemetery in Walters, OK, Friday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m., Bro. Hannah officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK.

Leon Irving Sevier, Jr. was born to Leon Irving and Marie Joyce (Chockpoyah) Sevier on June 24, 1949 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Norman, OK on February 19, 2020 at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 26 days.

Leon attended elementary school in Comanche, OK until the family moved to Porterville, CA where he attended junior high and high school, graduating in 1968.

He married Gwenda Jean DeMasters on July 15, 1970 in Deer Lodge, MT. Leon was sealed in the Dallas Temple on November 17, 1984. He graduated from Rose State College in 1996 with a Science of Nursing Degree and in 2010 received a Bachelors of Science from Platt College. He worked as a registered nurse for the Oklahoma Youth Center in Norman, OK and was known as “Grandpa Nurse.” He retired in 2015 from the Lexington Assessment Intake Prison System.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Irving Sevier, Sr.; a brother, Kenneth Ray Sevier; a son, Marshall “Mark” Leon Sevier; his grandparents, Lee and Lorean Chockpoyah, Ed and Bertha Sevier; and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife Gwenda of the home; his mother, Marie “Midge” Sevier of the home; a son, Christopher and Sandra Sevier of Noble; a daughter, Chylee Sevier of Norman; 4 granddaughters, Jasmine, Presleigh, A.J. and Rachel; 4 grandsons, Joshua, Marshall, Braydon, and Collin; and 1 great grandson; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
