Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sudduth of the Taylor Store Community, are the parents of a baby girl born Tuesday, October 9, who has been given the name Margie Nell...Joe Baldwin, one of Walters best known big game hunters, will lead a party of sportmen out of Walters Monday for a big game hunt in the Black Mountains of southeast New Mexico. Included in the party will be Louie Morrison, Garland Ruggles, Kemp Spicer, Bill Boyer and Walker Pyle...Mr. and Mrs. John Unsicker of the Pecan Grove Community, are the parents of a baby girl born last Sunday. She has been named Martha Christene...Shorty Jackson, the noted shoeshine artist, who has presided at the Harris Barber shop here intermittently during the past few years has returned to Walters and to his old position after spending several months recuperating his fortunes in the east Texas oil fields.

Fred Turner, local attorney, announced this week he has taken over the equipment of the law office of Wm. T. Powell and has consolidated it with his office at 107 N. Broadway. Powell, for many years a lawyer in Walters, has been in a critical condition in a Lawton hospital for several days. Turner is continuing to recover from a paralytic condition to his right side, caused by a gunshot wound on the left side of his head, and his ability to walk and use his right hand is improving each day, he said...Ferrell Phillips was chosen City Manager for Walters by the City Council Thursday afternoon. Phillips is presently associated with Copeland Equipment Company, where he has been employed since 1952...Capt. and Mrs. Eugene Rhoads, of Albany, Ga., announce the birth of a daughter, Linda Kay, October 12. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Rhoads, of Randlett...Frank Calfy and Joe Jarrell have opened C & J Appliance Repair in the three hundred block of E. Missouri.
