Change in the management of the barber shop here, formerly known as Schrader’s Barber shop, was announce this week by G. L. (Jake) Hales, new owner. He has been employed as a barber in Walters for 10 years, the last six years in the shop he bought. The name has been changed to Hales Barber shop...Miss Billie Gower, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Houston Gower, of near Gregg, became the bride of Omar Worsham, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Worsham, who reside south of Temple, Friday evening in Walters at the Christian church...Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Stevenson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Tuesday with an open house. The couple were married January 31, 1889, in Willis, Kans. They drew a claim five miles northeast of Walters in 1901, where they still reside.

Charles Reed has sold his building at Broadway and Nebraska to the Odd Fellows lodge and moved his paint store to the building formerly occupied by Morrow Appliance... Mr. and Mrs. David Williams, Cheney, Kans., announce the adoption os a son, Robert Earl, on January 20. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Williams, Randlett, and Mr. and Mrs. T. V. Secord, of Nash. Mrs. Bob Williams, Randlett, is the great-grandmother...Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mowatt, Walters, have chosen the name Denise Elaine for their daughter born January 27. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sylvester are the maternal grandparents.

Jim Stauffer, former Walters resident, was named president of the Citizens Bank in Velma at a meeting of the stockholders January 19. Stauffer replaces John Phil Reynolds as president, and Reynolds was moved to Chairman of the Board at the same meeting...Jess and Beulah Fincher will celebrate their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, February 5, with a dinner hosted by their children. Jess William Fincher and Beulah Adella Blackwell were married February 6, at Maysville, Okla. They moved to Walters in 1948. Jess worked 37 years for Cities Service Oil Co... Mr. and Mrs. John Unsicker, of Freeport, Texas, recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. The couple were married January 13, 1934, in St. Patrick’s Catholic church in Walters... Mr. and Mrs. Dick Barnes, of Temple, will be honored at a reception on their Golden Wedding Anniversary January 12, in the fellowship hall of the Presbyterian church in Temple. Dick Barnes and Ira Hough were married February 14, 1934, in Alma, Okla.
