Thanksgiving. Is it just another holiday? Shouldn’t we be thankful? Are you thankful for your many blessings? To whom are you thankful?

These are all good questions in this time of pandemic. It is officially called corona virus disease 2019, or abbreviated, it’s covid-19. Many of our friends and loved ones are suffering and even grieving right now. We need to keep one another in our prayers.

So, when you put it all in perspective, what do we have to be thankful for? Well, as I mentioned, we do have many blessings! Our Creator loves us so much He sent His Son to show us the way. Jesus died on the cross as debt paid for our sins! Without Him, we are truly lost.

Jesus said, in John 14:6, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (nasb)

There was once a writer who was paid well for the novels and stories he wrote. Someone once told him, “I’ll give you twenty bucks for just one of your best words. Here’s a twenty.”

The writer took it and promptly stuck it deep down in his pocket and said, “Thanks!”

“Now wait a minute, sir…What is the word?” I was getting’ just a bit irritated.

“Thanks.” He replied again.

If somebody doesn’t show appreciation, you sometimes can feel kind of hurt, or taken for granted, and you wonder why you bothered to do something for the person in the first place.

Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem. And He chose to pass between Samaria and Galilee. Just as he entered a little town there were ten men with leprosy disease that were waiting for Jesus.

And they raised their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" When He saw them, He said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they were going, they were cleansed. Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan. (Luke 17:13-16, nasb)

Leprosy is a horrible disease that deteriorates the flesh. Those diagnosed with it could not live with the rest of the community. They had to live in a separate colony. And, yes, the disease still exists today. Be thankful for modern medicines.

Jesus cleansed them! And Luke points out that a Samaritan turned back and gave God the glory!

Be thankful to Jesus for what He has done! He did it all!

We have a national day of thanksgiving this week. We have plenty of things about our country we need to pray for, but we also have plenty to be thankful to God for.

I am truly thankful that Jesus went to the cross to pay the debt you and I could never pay!

You might say we all have a virus or disease. It is called sin, and He took care of it!

I reckon I’m also thankful that God is approachable. He wants to know me. But not just that, He wants us to know Him. Those lepers stood at a distance. Until I gave my life to Christ, I was at a distance. Now, I too, bow down at the feet of Jesus, just like that Samaritan.

I am truly Thankful! Psalm 100:4, Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise.

Give thanks to Him, bless His name.

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! Always thankful for the rain!
