God Thing!

I hope everyone had a good Easter Sunday! Our church services are different, but they are still getting done. The church is finding a way to “meet” during this time through online means such as Youtube live, and Facebook live, and interactive “Zoom” for small group meetings just to name a few!

As we prepare to share our faith (which these days is mostly on social media), there still seems to be some folks that have a doubt concerning just what it was Jesus did. It’s understandable, Thomas was one of Jesus’ disciples, and we know he doubted. Jesus made sure that even Thomas had no doubt. Thomas had to actually touch Jesus’ wounds! He needed proof. Why do we sometimes have so much trouble just believing by faith? It’s awesome, though, how when we need evidence of Jesus, He touches our hearts, and without a doubt we do know! I reckon you would have to say it really is a God thing!

Calves have been being born, lately. Now I’ve seen the miracle of life over a thousand times and, Lord knows, I’ve had to come in and assist with more of those births than I’d care to mention, but seeing a newborn calf come from its mama is truly a God thing! The cow gets up and turns around and starts lickin’ that calf off; and, in just a few minutes, that calf is up and nursing for the first time. Yep, she’d be standing right there on four legs. And in just a little bit, she (or he) is out running around like there’s nothing to it. It’s a God thing! How could anyone ever convince themselves that the Master Creator didn’t put the world into existence? He did it! Read the first of Genesis!

I was able to be present at the birth of both of our children. Awesome! And now we have five grandboys (no girls)! But I’ll tell you, God formed them in the womb, they were able to be nurtured there and when it was time, out they came. I remember how our kids each had their own personalities, even during those first moments on the outside as they began to experience life away from the protection of the womb. And grandchildren as well! Miracles! God thing!

As we look back to time after the resurrection, the way I understand it, Jesus remained here on earth for another forty days after He arose! And then He ascended to Heaven! And just as He promised, the Holy Spirit came to dwell in us. The Church was on its way. Peter preached. The Holy Spirit moved and 3,000 souls were saved! Others preached and shared as well. Many people came to Christ and the Good News spread like wildfire. It’s a God thing!

Now, there were some setbacks. The early church suffered terrible persecution from those same religious leaders that put Jesus on the cross. But it wasn’t just them, we all had a part in it. Jesus didn’t go to the cross because of a few folks that weren’t obeying God; He went to the cross to pay the sin debt for all. Yep, you and me and all of y’all. When we turn our lives over to Jesus our sins are left at the foot of that cross. That’s what John 3:16 is all about and that is a God thing! For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

He wants us to share the “good news” with all people. Why does this need to happen? It’s simple. Jesus will return someday soon and there are folks of different cultures and heritage that need to know Christ. And that isn’t going to happen without His local churches seeing and meeting the need! Are you doing your part to share? During this time of pandemic, you may have to get on social media or pick up your phone. Tell others! It’s a God thing!

Choose Jesus, choose life! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST!
